A meeting to update and inform Salesians recently appointed as Provincial Economers has just ended.
(ANS - Rome) - From Monday 9 May, the anniversary of the birth of Mother Mazzarello, the Studies Centre of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA) at the Pontifical Faculty of Educational Sciences at "Auxilium" in Rome is available online. As well as giving information on the activities of the FMA Study Centre, the site aims to be a service and a research and documentation space where the FMA, Past Pupils, Salesians and Salesian Family members and those who are interested in the female dimension of the Salesian educative spirituality can refer to contributions on the history, pedagogy and spirituality of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians from the origins (1872) to today.
Taranto, Italy - May 2016 - From 30 April to 1 May, about four hundred young people from the Salesian Youth Movement of South Italy attended the Youth Festival on the theme "Less is more", inspired by the Encyclical “Laudato sì” of Pope Francis on the safe-guarding of Creation.
Genzano, Italy - May 2016 - The Salesian novices from Pinerolo, Genzano and pre-novices from six Italian provinces met at Genzano from 1 to 4 May. Fr Ivo Coelho, Councillor General for Formation, and the team from the Department of Formation were present and also Fr Francesco Cereda, Vicar of the Rector Major, who presided over the Eucharist on 4 May. In his homily Fr Cereda reminded the novices of the importance of being disciples and apostles of the Risen Christ as Don Bosco was for young people.
(ANS - Rome) - To educate poorer young people in art, music and theatre, the Salesians in Italy have come up with many practical projects to ensure that art becomes an instrument of development for children, teenagers and young people.
Messina, Italy - April 2016 - The third session of the Chapter of the Salesian Province of Sicily ended on April 2016. There were 52 chapter members and 13 invited guests. They discussed the situation and prospects of the 21 works of Sicily and Tunisia. "This is not about doing more things or doing different things than in the past, but about demonstrating to the world that we are consecrated entirely to God and to the young, like Don Bosco," said the Provincial, Fr Giuseppe Ruta.
