The Salesian community at DBBH not only provides shelter, food and basic necessities for the boys, but also focuses on value formation and cultural programmes to help them develop their talents, whether in sports or music. The boys attend classes in a school located within the complex, where the Salesians play an active role in enriching the pastoral and spiritual life of the institute.
The Salesian work also welcomes trainees as part of the technical and vocational education and training programme. The latter aims to provide practical skills that can help young people and trainees find work and support themselves and their families.
The reach of the DBBH then extends to the new St John Bosco parish in Cotcot, Liloan, which serves as a spiritual centre for the area.
The work also plays an important role in supporting the Liloan National High School Extension Don Bosco Campu’, which is located on its grounds. The school offers education to more than a thousand students, focusing as much on academic training as on values. At DBBH, young people not only find shelter and receive education and training, but are also guided in their faith. They learn the importance of joy, optimism and serving others with love and responsibility, rooted in Salesian spirituality.
The Salesians involved in this social work dream of the youngsters becoming responsible and autonomous individuals, faithful to their Christian values. In fact, many of the young people return to support the Bosco Boys' Home, showing gratitude for the help received.
Through its programmes, this work continues to change lives, helping young people to build a better future for themselves and their communities.
