In Valdocco, after the success of ‘Today with Don Bosco, pilgrims of hope’, the three Tuesday evenings in the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians, events will begin on the afternoon of 30 January, with the 12 bells ringing for the first time, organised by the ‘TO Bells Association’. It will continue with the Holy Rosary led by the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, and with the evening Mass celebrated by Bishop Alessandro Giraudo, Auxiliary Bishop of Turin. Finally, in the evening, Fr Stefano Martoglio, Vicar of the Rector Major, will preside at First Vespers, before the Vigil which will begin at 8.30 p.m.
The programme on 31 January, Don Bosco’s feast day, will be broad and varied. The morning will be devoted to a series of Masses from 7 to 11 am. There will then be the moving Blessing of the boys at the altar of Don Bosco, presided over by Fr Guido Dutto, Parish Priest of the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians. Afterwards, after Adoration and Second Vespers presided over by Fr Michele Viviano, Rector, and Mass for the people presided over by Bishop Gabriele Mana, Bishop Emeritus of Biella, Fr Stefano Martoglio will celebrate Mass for the Salesian Youth Movement. In the evening, starting at 9pm, Mass will be celebrated with SERMIG - Servizio Missionario Giovani (Youth Missionary Service), with the presence of its founder, Ernesto Olivero.
At Valdocco the events will continue also on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 February, with the concert in honour of Don Bosco by the Choir of the Cavour High School in Turin and with the Eucharistic Concelebration on the Day of Consecrated Life, presided over by Fr Ugo Pozzoli, Episcopal Vicar for Religious Life.
At Colle Don Bosco a prayer vigil will be held in the evening of Thursday 30 January in preparation for the feast.
The following day, several Masses will be celebrated to commemorate Don Bosco, starting in the early hours of the morning with one celebrated by Fr Marco Cena, Parish Priest of Castelnuovo. Then, at 9.30am., Fr Igino Biffi, Economer at Colle Don Bosco will celebrate Mass, while at 11 a.m. it will be the turn of Bishop Alessandro Giraudo, Auxiliary Bishop of Turin. Finally, in the afternoon, there is great expectation for the Mass to be celebrated by Archbishop Giordano Piccinotti, President of the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See (APSA).
