(ANS – Vatican City) – Just two weeks after the solemn opening of the Ordinary Jubilee 2025, on 24 December, more than 545,532 pilgrims from all over the world have passed through the Holy Door at St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.

(ANS – Rome) – Just a few days ago, the Holy Father, opening the Holy Door, began the Jubilee, a time of grace and renewal for the whole Church. On this important occasion for the whole Church, the World Coordinator of the Association of Salesian Cooperators, Antonio Boccia, sent a message with a powerful exhortation "to live the Salesian apostolic vocation in the world as lay people committed to bringing the light of Christ into society by embodying the Salesian charism".

(ANS – Kramatorsk) – The echo of artillery shells broke the silence of the celebration. And the alarms went off several times. The sounds of war accompanied the beginning of the Jubilee of Hope in the Donetsk region. Because also in Ukraine the Holy Year opened along the front. It is the one that marked the entire oblast from which the Greek-Catholic diocese also takes its name, led by Salesian bishop Maksym Ryabukha. Unable to set foot in the cathedral in Donetsk city because it is occupied by the Russian army, he chose the church closest to the line of combat and the capital in the hands of Moscow for the rite of opening the Jubilee Door.

(ANS – Vatican City) – The waiting is over, and in just a few hours, Pope Francis will open the Holy Door of St. Peter's Basilica to inaugurate the Holy Year, the Jubilee of 2025, dedicated to the theme of hope. This hope, which “does not disappoint,” is emphasized in the Apostolic Bull Spes non confundit. It is a necessary hope in a world beset by wars, divisions, poverty, and climate crises, which seems to promise only anguish and distress.

Towards the Jubilee 2025

The 2025 Jubilee will officially open on 24 December 2024 at 7 p.m., with the rite of the Opening of the Holy Door at St Peter's Papal Basilica by the Holy Father, who will then preside over the celebration of Holy Mass on Christmas Eve inside the Basilica.

(ANS - Rome) - At the Don Bosco Library at the Pontifical Salesian University, the Advent 2024 exhibition ‘The Jubilee in the papers of the Don Bosco Library between the 19th and 20th centuries’ was opened on 4 December. After a greeting from the Director Marcello Sardelli, the Rector Magnificus Fr Andrea Bozzolo welcomed the event as the first in a series of initiatives that will lead to the Holy Year 2025 as an academic community.
