DR Congo - Fr Guillermo Basañes' visit to the 25 communities of the AFC Province concluded
DR Congo - January 2025 - Despite the great difficulties of the socio-political crisis in the country, Fr Guillermo Basañes, Superior of the Salesian Province of Central Africa (AFC), completed his canonical visit to the 25 communities of the Province on 27 January in Sakania. Over a period of five months, according to the schedule agreed with the Provincial Council, especially Fr Tryphon Kalimira, AFC Vice-Provincial, and Fr Gauthier Tshibangu, AFC-EST Provincial Delegate, these planned visits were all successful. During the meetings, Fr Basañes had the opportunity to converse with the Salesians, the young recipients (students), lay collaborators, and in particular the workers and members of the Salesian Family. In addition, the AFC Provincial will travel to Zambia to visit Salesians in formation in the novitiate in Kabwe and those in postnovitiate formation in Makeni in Lusaka. All these visits were planned before the start of GC29, to enable the Provincial and the two delegates who will attend to have an objective report on the current state of the AFC Province.
