Mestre, Italy – September 2024 – On Sunday 22 September, the Don Bosco Salesian Institute in Mestre hosted an extraordinary event that involved about a thousand young people from Salesian works in the Triveneto. A special occasion, aimed at high school students, to experience a day of celebration, listening, reflection and fun, in preparation for the Jubilee year. The day began with the arrival and welcome of the participants, with entertainment, dancing and time for play. This was followed by time for prayer, before entering the heart of the event with the formative moment on hope, given by Lorenzo Tiengo, who in a nice and engaging way was able to get young people to reflect on the importance of living hope as Christians. During this time for reflection, four young people shared their testimonies on how to be pilgrims of hope in the most difficult contexts. The young people then had a time of reflection and sharing in small groups, so as to be able to find a commitment to be pilgrims of hope in their respective environments. After a packed lunch, the day continued with tournaments and entertainment games in the courtyard, moments of joy and socialising. The central moment of the day was the Mass, celebrated by Fr Luca Bernardello, vocational animator. The day ended with greetings and the invitation to participate in the paths of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM) throughout the year, to continue this journey of faith and hope.
