Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea - January 2025 - St Joseph's Church in East Boroko, near Port Moresby, was filled with hundreds of educators at the annual Mass for teachers of Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Port Moresby on 24 January. Cardinal John Ribat, MSC, Archbishop of Port Moresby, presided over the Eucharistic celebration, concelebrated by six other priests. The cardinal congratulated the Catholic schools - St. Charles Secondary, Marianville Secondary, St Joseph's International and La Salle Secondary - for achieving the best results in 2024 in the national 10th and 12th grade examinations. He then expressed his gratitude to the educators for their dedication and support in guiding the students towards success. Archbishop Ribat also emphasised that, like the twelve apostles, teachers are called to continue the work of Christ on earth; and he noted in conclusion: ‘Teaching, helping students and touching their hearts will inspire them to move forward with great hope, enabling them to contribute positively to society, the Church, the nation and their families.
