Poland - Meeting of Rectors and others in charge of Presences in the Salesian Province of Krakow

Krakow, Poland - February 2025 - 34 rectors - four of them from Ukraine - and those in charge of the various Salesian posts in the Krakow Province (PLS) took part in a meeting organised at the Salesian Theological Institute in Krakow on 4-5 February. The guest speaker at this meeting was Prof. Monika Przybysz, associate professor at the Institute of Media Education and Journalism at the Faculty of Theology of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw, who gave a lecture on ‘Clickbait and fake news on the web. How not to get lost in disinformation'. Fr Marcin Kaznowski, PLS Provincial, celebrated the Eucharist and in his homily shared his insights on how to deal with various Salesian pastoral experiences, especially in difficult times. During the day, the situation of the following Provincial Sectors was presented: Administration and Economy 2024/2025 and investments in the Province, by Fr Piotr Pawelec, Provincial Economer; Youth Ministry: on the results achieved and the projects for the new year, by Fr Franciszek Janyga, Provincial Delegate for YM; Formation, Salesian Family and various issues related to the function of the Community Rector, by Fr Zygmunt Kostka, Vice-Provincial; Social Communication, Provincial media and new projects, by Fr Dariusz Bartocha, Provincial Delegate for Social Communication. Ms Maria Miduch, Director of the Salesian Theological Institute in Krakow, was also invited to the meeting, and she shared her thoughts on the future of that institute in view of the decrease in Salesian vocations. It was also moving to listen to the Salesians working in Ukraine, who shared their most recent experiences of the situation in the war-torn country.
