(ANS – Rome) – On the occasion of the Bicentenary of Don Bosco's Childhood Dream, the Salesian Youth Ministry Sector has convened young people from all over the Salesian world for a meeting, to be held from 11 to 16 August in Valdocco, Turin and at Colle Don Bosco. It is not a simple meeting of young people: it is rather a process that has already begun for some time in the Provinces, in which young people have been invited to walk together, listening, speaking and praying with the aim of discerning their future and that of the Church together. It is about listening to each other, learning from each other and projecting the Gospel onto the situations they are discovering in their lives.
June is the month in which World Refugee Day is celebrated, on the 20th. This month, Pope Francis also dedicated his video message with prayer intentions for migrants and all those fleeing their countries.
(ANS – Rome) – In a hyper-connected world where ‘sharing’ takes on new and different meanings from time to time, the danger of exposing oneself too much or too badly, with negative consequences for self and the institution one represents, is a real risk. This is why this topic cannot fail to be the focus of attention of the Sector for Social Communication, which is preparing for the Communication 2024 Conference ‘SHAPING TOMORROW’, in just over two months time - from 1 to 7 August 2024, at the facilities of the Pontifical Salesian University (UPS) in Rome. So let us explore this topic more deeply.
(ANS - Rome) - As scheduled, on the afternoon of Wednesday, 29 May, the presentation of the restoration results of the decorative palimpsest in the crypt of Saint Cecilia took place at the Catacombs of San Callisto in Rome. These catacombs have been under the care of the Sons of Don Bosco since 1930. "Beauty and sacredness" were the two guiding themes of the event, which repeatedly surfaced in the various speeches delivered by the guests attending the occasion.
(ANS – Rome) – 91 years of age – 92 on 10 September – Spanish Salesian Fr Luis Chamizo Fajardo was the oldest of the participants in the "Return to the Sources" course run by the Missions Sector to bring long-term missionaries who have now reached old age back to the "source" of their vocation. Yet, Fr Chamizo witnessed and passed on a childlike joy and enthusiasm to everyone, demonstrating how a heart fully rooted in the Salesian charism can be young at all ages.
(ANS – Rome) – The second ‘senior’ Salesian who shared his story and missionary experience with the other elderly missionaries, as part of the ‘Return to the Sources Course’ organised by the Missions Sector in this month of May 2024, was Fr Segundo Manuel Cabrera Arevalo. 84 years of age, 66 years of Salesian life and 44 as a priest, Fr Cabrera is originally from Ecuador and is one of the few missionaries who has served in his own country, as he has worked with the indigenous communities there.

RMG - St. Francis de Sales Communicator: All for Love
(ANS – Rome) - The figure of St. Francis de Sales, chosen by Don Bosco as an example of a communicator, teaches that communication is a matter of the heart. In his expression, "Everything in the Church is love: everything lives in love, for love, and of love," we understand his revolution in the way of communicating, and how communication becomes fruitful when it allows communion and the exchange of one's experiences in a path of accompaniment and collaboration in God's project.

WHAT A GIFT TIME IS!
THE MESSAGE OF THE VICAR OF THE RECTOR MAJOR,
Fr Stefano Martoglio, SDBThe beginning of the new year is illuminated in our liturgy by the ancient formula with which the Israelite priests blessed the people: "May the Lord bless you, and keep you. May the Lord show His face to you, and have mercy on you. May the Lord turn His countenance to you, and give you peace."
