Referring to the data published by UNHCR - United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees - it emerges that:
- 108.4 million people in the world have been forcibly displaced due to persecution, conflict, violence, human rights violations;
- 35.3 million are refugees, 62.5 million are internally displaced;
- 5.4 million are asylum seekers, while 5.2 million people are in need of international protection;
- About 52% of all these refugees come from just 3 countries: Syria, Ukraine and Afghanistan.
