(ANS – Turin) – On October 5, 2024, the fourth day of their extraordinary general assembly, the 200 delegates of the Extraordinary General Assembly of the Don Bosco Past Pupils Association, visited the places associated with Don Bosco on Saturday. They visited Chieri and Colle Don Bosco from where Don Bosco himself had envisioned the future. On the last day, the elections for the new office bearers and the final concluding ceremony took place.

(ANS – Turin) – The third day of the Extraordinary General World Assembly (EGWA) of the Past Pupils of Don Bosco, on Friday 4 October, was another rich experience celebrated in the authentic spirit of the Salesian Family.

Messina, Italy – October 2024 - With great joy and gratitude, the Salesian St Paul Province of Sicily (ISI), the Salesian "San Tommaso"  Community Messina and the families of the candidates celebrated the Perpetual Profession of eleven young people who have chosen to give themselves completely to the Lord through the charism of Don Bosco. The ceremony was held on the afternoon of 5 October, at the Co-Cathedral the Divine Saviour in Messina, during a solemn Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Fr Alphonse Owoudou, Councillor for the Africa-Madagascar Region. The candidates for Perpetual Profession, from different parts of the world, were formed at the "San Tommaso" Theological Institute in Messina: Rogers Berocan, Sérgio A. Dos Santos, Francisco Horta, Fidel Junior, Georges Niyonkuru, U. Frank T. Bayiha, A. Melsior Porseni, Déo Nizirimana, and three young Sicilians: Emanuele Geraci, Vito Mangano and Orazio Moschetti. During the homily, Fr Owoudou reflected on the role of the good shepherd, a model for every Salesian. "The Salesian must be able to say: ‘I am a pastor’. God is the only shepherd and teacher, and we must recognise his voice and obey, following the example of Jesus. Today many young people are lost because they lack safe guides, pastors capable of showing them the right way." The Salesian vocation, the Regional Councillor concluded, is realised in service to young people, especially the poorest and most needy, embodying the vision of Don Bosco. The Salesian, in his daily commitment, makes God visible and credible. The care of one's vocation requires a constant relationship with God, with the confreres and with young people, to work together in the service of a greater mission.

(ANS – New Rochelle) - Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins humanitarian organizations and countries around the globe in honoring World Teachers’ Day, which has been celebrated each year on Oct. 5 since 1994. (ANS – Turin) – "It is with great warmth that I welcome you to Valdocco, the place where our history began, a sacred space where we gather to dream and anchor hope in our journey alongside young people": Bryan Magro, President of the Confederation, began with these words to officially announce the opening of the Extraordinary World General Assembly of the Past Pupils of Don Bosco, scheduled from 2 to 6 October 2024 in Valdocco, Turin on the theme: "Walking together: changing to continue".

  • RMG - St. Francis de Sales Communicator: All for Love

(ANS – Rome) - The figure of St. Francis de Sales, chosen by Don Bosco as an example of a communicator, teaches that communication is a matter of the heart. In his expression, "Everything in the Church is love: everything lives in love, for love, and of love," we understand his revolution in the way of communicating, and how communication becomes fruitful when it allows communion and the exchange of one's experiences in a path of accompaniment and collaboration in God's project.

THE MESSAGE OF THE VICAR OF THE RECTOR MAJOR,
    Fr Stefano Martoglio, SDB

The beginning of the new year is illuminated in our liturgy by the ancient formula with which the Israelite priests blessed the people: "May the Lord bless you, and keep you. May the Lord show His face to you, and have mercy on you. May the Lord turn His countenance to you, and give you peace."
