(ANS - Torre Annunziata) - Accompanying the youngest at risk by giving them attention, time for study and recreation; and then teaching them a trade to save these local youths from the underworld and give them a stable future. This is the meaning of the two new initiatives that are being launched today, Monday 4 November, by the Salesians of Torre Annunziata: the multi-purpose day center "Casa Valdocco", and the vocational training workshop for apprentice pizza-makers in "Pizzoratorio".
Santeramo in Colle, Italy - October 2019 - From 25 to 27 October, the young people of the Salesian Youth Movement of Italy met with delegates, male and female, Salesian Cooperator Associations, CGS, TGS, Ciofs / FP, Ciofs / school, PGS, Vides and the Salesian Office of Social Communication in Italy. Sixty people met with the style of synodal discernment - to recognize, interpret and choose - to think together about the Pastoral guidelines for the next three years. The space for personal prayer, silence, group work and sharing in the assembly meant that the SYM Secretariat was given a list of keywords that will serve as a framework for producing the pastoral proposal for the next three years.
(ANS - Rome) - On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Liberation of Rome from the Nazi-Fascist occupation, and in the 90th anniversary of the foundation of the Salesian Institute "Pio XI", on Friday, 18 October, the International "Raoul Wallenberg" Foundation (IRWF) delivered the plaque identifying the Pio XI Institute as "House of Life", having been a place of refuge and salvation for a number of Jewish citizens unjustly persecuted during the Second World War. On this occasion, the docu-fiction "LO SCUDO DELL’ALTRO - La Memoria del Dovere, or the Shield of the Other – the Memory of Duty", produced in collaboration with the Salesian Historical Institute (ISS), Senape Production, "Madriland Art" and "Centro Cooperazione Culturale" was presented.
Rome, Italy - October 2019 - As part of the XI Edition of the “Maria Rita Saulle National Award”, the Institute of Political Studies “San Pio V” awarded a special prize to Fr Jorge Crisafulli, SDB, for his work among young people and, especially, for the work and support to girls and teenagers rescued from prostitution in the city of Freetown, Sierra Leone. The award was given on October 28 by Dr Giuseppe Acocella, emeritus professor of the Federico II University of Naples, in the presence of Fr Fabio Attard, General Councilor for Youth Ministry, with all the members of his Dicastery; the Salesian brother Jean Paul Muller, General Economer of the Salesian Congregation; Salesian brother José Luis Muñoz, director of ANS, and the laity who work in the "DON BOSCO NEL MONDO Foundation" of the Salesian Headquarters in Rome.
Rome, Italy - October 2019 - On 17 October, there was a meeting of the representatives of the Salesian prenovitiates in Europe, an annual meeting for planning, training and evaluation in view of the formative journey of the candidates to the Salesian life.
(ANS - Naples) - The first school year of the "La scuola del Fare" Vocational Training Center officially opened yesterday, Thursday 24 October, promoted by CNOS / FAP at the Salesian Institute in Naples (Italy). The inaugural event was attended by leading figures from the Salesian world, local administrations and the Third Sector, such as Vincenzo De Luca, President of the Campania Region, Chiara Marciani, Regional Councilor for Vocational Training, and Fr Fabio Attard, General Councilor for the Salesian Youth Ministry, who stated: "When a boy or girl lives in an environment where he feels welcomed, accompanied, promoted and made a protagonist, the present is called the future."

The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

Italy – On-Line Course on Integral Ecology 2025: An Initiative of the Alliance for the Care of Our Common Home (Pontifical Universities & Atheneums of Rome)
(ANS – Rome) – 2025 marks the tenth anniversary of Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ landmark encyclical letter on the Care for Our Common Home, in which he invited all people of good to “a new dialogue about how we are shaping the future of our planet” (Laudato Si’, 14). However, as Pope Francis recognizes in Laudate Deum, the apostolic exhortation published on 4th October 2023, “our responses have not been adequate” and “the world in which we live is collapsing and may be nearing the breaking point.” (Laudate Deum, 2).
