(ANS - Milan) - In his speech to the city of Milan, delivered on the occasion of the celebrations of its patron saint, Archbishop Mario Delpini publicly thanked "all those who dedicate themselves to education, formation, education in schools", and he invited the people of Milan to be "proud" of the education system offered to citizens. The Salesian schools, present for decades in the Ambrosian territory, also contribute to this model of excellence with their specific traits. Fr Paolo Caiani, head of youth ministry in the Lombardy-Emilian Province of Italy (ILE), explains the Salesian educational specialty in detail.

Naples, Italy - December 2019 - On December 15, at the Monastery of Santa Chiara in Naples, the first evening of the itinerant concerts of the young orchestra of the pupils of Don Bosco of Caserta took place, and their first CD entitled " Don Bosco is coming to Orchestra" was officially presented. The evening was moderated by prof. Stefano Laudadio in the presence of the Mayor of Naples, Luigi De Magistris. The orchestra is composed of 65 musicians aged between 7 and 18 years, with arrangements and musical direction by prof. Enzo Anastasio, assisted by prof. Massimo Barone, and the support of the director of the Salesians of Caserta, Fr Gino Martucci. The orchestra's next concert, after 18 December in the church of the Salesians Don Bosco of Naples and of the church of the Good Shepherd in Caserta, is scheduled for 4 January at the Juvenile Penitentiary Institute of Airola, in favor of the young detainees.

(ANS - Rome) – Starting mid-January, 1,157 young people will experience civil service volunteering with the Salesians for the Social sector, the non-profit organization of the Salesians in Italy that coordinates the Universal Civil Service in Italy and abroad.

(ANS - L'Aquila) - Everyone knows the history of the city of L'Aquila and the earthquake of April 6, 2009, which caused over 300 deaths, 1,600 injured and thousands of internally displaced people in the city of the Abruzzo region and in dozens of neighboring towns. Even today, after more than 10 years, they talk about it, because the wounds are still open, but little is said about what has been done to start over, be reborn, how much the Aquila people have fought and still struggle to find that social fabric, that serenity, those locations, that peace that has been snatched from us.

(ANS - Rome) - "SiamoUmani" is a project carried out by the "Siamo" Social Cooperative within the "Sacro Cuore" Youth Center in Rome, located next to Termini Station and the Basilica of the Sacred Heart founded by Don Bosco himself. It aims to encourage the job placement of young refugees and Italians and has recently been selected as an inclusion model at the "Global Refugee Forum" in Geneva.

Casale Monferrato, Italy - December 2019 - On December 20, the Harambée community of Casale Monferrato celebrated the Christmas festivities with the Eucharist followed by dinner and the exchange of greetings. The event was attended by the children of the Residential Community, the Unaccompanied Foreign Minors of the Apartment Group (GAAP), the minors of the Educational Day Center (CEM), some young people, all the educators of the various entities involved, collaborators and volunteers of the Harambée community. The Eucharistic celebration was presided by Fr Domenico Ricca, Delegate for situations of marginalization and people at-risk in the ICP District, and concelebrated by Fr Marco Durando, director of the Salesian presence in Casale Monferrato.

The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

    (ANS – Shillong) – The Youth of St John Paul II, Shillong Province, celebrated the Feast Day of St. John Bosco with the Grand Finale of “Ka Sur Kynud, Season 3.” Organised by Don Bosco Media Network Television, the Social Communication Department of the Province, at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, this two-month-long singing competition, which imitates the global singing competition The Voice, concluded on 31 January 2025, coinciding with the Solemnity of St John Bosco.
