Guadalajara, Mexico - January 2025 - The Salesian Family (SF) in Mexico held its Advisory Council 2025 at the retreat house of the Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Guadalajara, Jalisco, on Sunday 19 January, . An event in which the participants were able to reflect, plan and strengthen ‘communion and prophetic mission according to Don Bosco's charism’. The day took place in an atmosphere of family, fraternity and dialogue, at which the 9 groups of the SF in Mexico were present. The advisory council meeting began with a greeting of Sr Socorro Hernández, FMA, Provincial of the Salesian Sisters of Monterrey, Mexico (MMO); followed by a prayer inviting the participants to ‘live this “Jubilee Year” with a renewed spirit’. Highlights of the meeting included a video reflection on the echoes of the Synod on Synodality, shared by Sister Yvonne Reungoat, Mother General Emerita of the FMA, who stressed the importance of communion for a ‘prophetic mission’. Then, led by Sister Patricia Magaña, FMA, the participants worked in teams to address: ‘Communion in Synodality’ and ‘the prophecy of shared mission’. The booklet ‘Animation and Accompaniment in the Salesian Family’ was also presented, offering key points for nourishing charismatic energy and strengthening accompaniment in the different groups. The programme also included the presentation of the Provincial Project for the Animation of the Salesian Family, by Fr Osvaldo Gorzegno, SDB; and dissemination, in the form of a report, of the activities carried out during 2024, by Alejandra Salazar, ASC. The event ended with the Eucharist presided over by Fr Filiberto González, SDB, Provincial of Guadalajara, Mexico (MEG), who concluded the day by inviting participants to continue to be ‘signs of communion and hope in their communities’.
