(ANS - Bologna) - Among the various commemorations scheduled for the occasion of the Monte Sole massacres on the Apennines near Bologna, which took place between September and October 1944 by the Nazi SS, there was also one in memory of the Servants of God Fr Elia Comini, Salesian, and Fr Martino Capelli, Dehonian, held on 12 October at the "Botte di Pioppe di Salvaro" (Bologna). Presided by Fr Carlos Luis Suárez, Superior General of the Dehonians, it saw the presence of over 60 concelebrants, of the Christian and civil communities, and relatives of the victims.
Turin, Italy - October 2019 - On October 10 and 11, the President of the Senate of the Republic, Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati, was on an institutional visit to Piedmont. One of the official stops scheduled was at the Faculty of Theology of the Don Bosco International Institute. The President of the Senate was able to meet and greet the Salesian Community of Crocetta, the teachers and students of the Institute of Theology, and representatives of the center's various sectors. To welcome President Casellati on arrival were the Councilor of the Turin City Council, Alberto Sacco, the Prefect of Turin, Claudio Palomba, the Councilor for Education of the Piedmont Region, Elena Chiorino, the Provincial of the Piedmont Salesians and Valle d'Aosta, Fr Enrico Stasi, the Director of the International Don Bosco Institute, Fr Marek Chrzan and the Dean of the Institute of Theology, Fr Paolo Merlo.
(ANS - Turin) - The Salesians have welcomed Pope Francis' missionary summons and, as every year, have renewed their commitment to spreading the Gospel with the Missionary Expedition from the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians in Turin-Valdocco. On ANSChannel, in the different language channels, a video-greeting is now available that the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, has sent to the whole Salesian world just before the sending off Mass: a video that simply serves to transmit “the testimony of these confreres, who come from many parts of the world and will go to 17 nations!"
Rome, Italy - October 5, 2019 - Prof. Piera Ruffinatto, FMA, was sworn in at the beginning of her term as Dean of the Pontifical Faculty of Educational Sciences "AUXILIUM", in the presence of the Grand Chancellor, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major of the Salesians, and of the Vice Grand Chancellor, Mother Yvonne Reungoat, Mother General of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.
(ANS - Arese) - As part of the school-work alternation project, the students of the Social Communication course of the schools of the Lombard-Emilian Province (ILE) interviewed Fr Alessandro Ticozzi, SDB, head of Vocational Training of the ILE Province. Many issues were addressed, from the challenges posed by new technologies to the employment of young people.
Rome, Italy - October 2019 - On 8 October Fr Fabio Attard, General Councilor for Youth Ministry, received from Fr Daniel García Reynoso, World Coordinator of social works and services for youth at risk, and a member of the same Dicastery, the Proceedings of the World Council celebrated from 27 to 31 March 2019 in the Salesian Headquarters of Rome. The reflection, the contributions and above all the "Final Declaration of the Consulta" represent an important contribution to the next GC28.

The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

Italy – On-Line Course on Integral Ecology 2025: An Initiative of the Alliance for the Care of Our Common Home (Pontifical Universities & Atheneums of Rome)
(ANS – Rome) – 2025 marks the tenth anniversary of Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ landmark encyclical letter on the Care for Our Common Home, in which he invited all people of good to “a new dialogue about how we are shaping the future of our planet” (Laudato Si’, 14). However, as Pope Francis recognizes in Laudate Deum, the apostolic exhortation published on 4th October 2023, “our responses have not been adequate” and “the world in which we live is collapsing and may be nearing the breaking point.” (Laudate Deum, 2).

RMG - St. Francis de Sales Communicator: All for Love
(ANS – Rome) - The figure of St. Francis de Sales, chosen by Don Bosco as an example of a communicator, teaches that communication is a matter of the heart. In his expression, "Everything in the Church is love: everything lives in love, for love, and of love," we understand his revolution in the way of communicating, and how communication becomes fruitful when it allows communion and the exchange of one's experiences in a path of accompaniment and collaboration in God's project.
