Peru - Meeting of the Salesian Family: ‘’Hope‘ is in fashion!’
Lima, Peru - Januar y 2025 - Around 300 people from the Salesian Family of Lima and Callao attended the Salesian Family Meeting at the Salesian Institute in Lima. Fr Juan Pablo Alcas, Superior of the Salesian Province of Peru (PER), opened his address by forcefully exclaiming: ‘’Hope‘ is in fashion!’. In his speech, Fr Alcas highlighted the challenging, yet hopeful panorama facing the Salesian Family at the beginning of the third millennium. Addressing the religious men, women religious, lay people and young people present, and the nine groups of the Salesian Family gathered together, the Provincial emphasised the importance of being beacons of hope in times of uncertainty, following Don Bosco's thinking. Similarly, he emphasised that hope, as a theological virtue, must be the driving force behind educative and pastoral activity, and must make it possible to discover and make the most of the goodness in every young person. Fr Alcas' address ended with an appeal to renew the Salesian commitment to trust in God's action in the lives of young people, reaffirming the validity of the Salesian charism today. The Youth Hymn 2025: ‘Anchored in Hope’ was then presented.
