(ANS - Castelvetrano) - Reserve and pragmatism, welcome and denunciation, dialogue and action: Fr Baldassarre Meli was a man of many facets. He passed away last Saturday, June 27, in Castelvetrano. Originally from Aragona, in the Agrigento area, he became Salesian in 1960 and was ordained a priest in 1971. For 17 years, from 1986 to 2003, he was the soul of the work "Santa Chiara" in Palermo, fighting on the front line in welcoming migrants and in defense of children's rights.

Rome, Italy - June 2020 - On June 27, the 50th anniversary of the canonical erection of the Pontifical Faculty of Education "Auxilium" was celebrated in live streaming. The event was attended by the Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, Grand Chancellor of the Faculty, and the Mother General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Mother Yvonne Reungoat, Vice Grand Chancellor, with a representative of the academic community.

Naples, Italy - June 2020 - On June 22, after 105 days, the gates of the Salesian Don Bosco Institute in Naples for young people in the neighborhood finally reopened. The lockdown, however, did not stop the work of the many educators and volunteers of the Salesian Institute who during these months, through social networks and digital platforms, followed young people who often live in difficult family contexts. On June 22, an educational action was restarted through the summer project "The Dream Network - #ogunoalsuoposto", 4 weeks of activity in 3 time slots with around 300 young people involved. Two triage stations were placed at the entrance and several hand hygiene stations placed. Each participant was provided with a protective mask, designed and purchased thanks to Salesians for the Social APS with the support of a Neapolitan donor who for years has supported young people in difficulty.

(ANS - Rome) - Tomorrow, June 24, 2020, it will be exactly 150 years since Carlo Gastini, together with other young people from the Salesian Oratory, delivered coffee cups to Don Bosco as a thank you for the education received and on the occasion of the feast day of St. John the Baptist. The solemn anniversary is both an occasion for a profound reflection on the meaning of the mission of Don Bosco's Past Pupil in the Salesian Family in the Church and in society today, and opportunities for launching numerous initiatives.

Rome, Italy - June 21, 2020 - The first week of the summer camp activities of Borgo Ragazzi Don Bosco ended with everyone expressing great satisfaction. Children, teenagers and families managed the peculiar situation due to the anti-COVID-19 health regulations with maturity and optimism, and everyone collaborated to ensure that everything went well.

Rome, Italy - June 2020 - An online meeting of the World Council of the Association of Salesian Cooperators took place on 20 June, which was enriched by the presence of the Rector Major of the Salesians, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime. After a moment of prayer and a brief greeting, the Rector Major offered some ideas to focus on, as World Council, in the animation of the Association for the next few years. Fr Á.F. Artime then thanked Sr. Leslye and Fr Casti for their years of service donated to the whole Association and greeted Sr. Lucrecia as the new World Delegate for the FMA. The work of the Council continued with the presentation by Raúl Fernández, Head of Formation, of an itinerary on which the Regions will work upon in the coming months so as to arrive at a Plan for the Formation of the whole Association.

    (ANS – Shillong) – The Youth of St John Paul II, Shillong Province, celebrated the Feast Day of St. John Bosco with the Grand Finale of “Ka Sur Kynud, Season 3.” Organised by Don Bosco Media Network Television, the Social Communication Department of the Province, at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, this two-month-long singing competition, which imitates the global singing competition The Voice, concluded on 31 January 2025, coinciding with the Solemnity of St John Bosco.
