Turin, Italy - July 2020 - On 11 July the last event of the missions starters course promoted by the Mission Animation of the Special Circumscription of Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta (ICP) took place with a walk in the mountains in Val Troncea. Marked by the Covid-19 pandemic and the ongoing health emergency, the mission calendar has unfortunately not seen the departure dates for the destinations initially scheduled. However, the young people have not remained idle, as the group organized opportunities for meeting, reflection and prayer.

For them, tireless in their daily mission and in their concreteness, the help they provide through the Turin Mission Office is essential.
Italy - UPS academic community commemorates late Prof. Fr Carlo Nanni, professor and rector emeritus
(ANS - Rome) - On 19 July 2020 at 6:30 in the morning, prof. Fr Carlo Nanni, SDB, Magnificent Rector Emeritus of the UPS (2009-2015), passed away at the age of 75 due to a serious illness.
(ANS - Lombriasco) - At the gates of Turin, in the land of Don Bosco, there is a Salesian institute that keeps alive the rich Salesian tradition of agricultural schools: the Salesian agricultural school of Lombriasco. In this particular school year, marked by the pandemic and distance learning, the institute has maintained its role as an educational environment of excellence and, indeed, has launched itself forward with courage in the name of innovation, of experimentation and solidarity.
Rome, Italy - July 2020 - On July 12, Fr Alphonse Owoudou, Councilor for the Africa-Madagascar Region, had a first meeting with the African Salesians present at the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS) in Rome. The meeting, which took place in compliance with the anti-COVID-19 directives, took place in the upper church of the UPS, with the aim of establishing contact between the Councilor and the Salesians of the Region present at the UPS for reasons of study or mission. Fr Gabriel Ngendakuriyo, Director of the community Don Rua welcomed Fr Owoudou, who articulated his intervention on three points: presentation of the function of the Regional Councilor according to the Salesian Constitutions and the deliberations of the GC28; reflections and actions that all the Salesians of the Africa-Madagascar Region are called to carry out for a more effective Salesian presence in the Region; presentation of its program for the next year. After his speech, there was a moment of dialogue with the participants, with questions about the configuration of the region, the functioning of the Conference of Provinces and Vice Provinces of the Region (CIVAM).

The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

India – INS youth solemnise Don Bosco’s Feast Day with ‘Ka Sur Kynud S-3’ Grand Finale
(ANS – Shillong) – The Youth of St John Paul II, Shillong Province, celebrated the Feast Day of St. John Bosco with the Grand Finale of “Ka Sur Kynud, Season 3.” Organised by Don Bosco Media Network Television, the Social Communication Department of the Province, at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, this two-month-long singing competition, which imitates the global singing competition The Voice, concluded on 31 January 2025, coinciding with the Solemnity of St John Bosco.
