Borgomanero, Italy - April 2020 - In this time of medical emergency, the students of Prima Les (address of the Social Economic High School) of the "Don Bosco" College of Borgomanero, thanks to 3D printing, and coordinated by the teacher Assia Hassanein, have created elastic devices for safety masks. The intuition is the result of the inspiration and creativity of Quinn Callander, a 13-year-old Canadian boy, who made his idea available without a patent and free online, allowing the students to thus implement the project and customize it before printing. The device lightens the weight of the mask elastics and prevents rubbing on the back of the ears, avoiding irritation and injury. So far, 100 straps have been supplied to the Obstetrics Department of the Borgomanero Hospital and another 100 to the Vergante Ambulance.
Rome, Italy - April 2020 - From April 9, thanks to the collaboration of "Spazio Conad" and the generosity of customers, the Salesian "Borgo Ragazzi Don Bosco" center has started the collection of basic necessities with the “suspended” shopping system, that is where a customer pays for items that can be collected by someone in need. In this case, the supermarket's customers find at the exit trolleys where they can leave something they have purchased to support the families of poor children followed by the Borgo. Last week, thanks to the generosity of these people, more than 30 families severely challenged by the coronavirus crisis were thus helped.
(ANS - Rome) - "Salesians for Social APS" has reactivated 67 projects of the Universal Civil Service which had been suspended due to the COVID-19 health crisis; thus, about 80% of the total activities have resumed; 753 voluntary operators (78% of the total) have re-started their activities in 198 project locations (62% of the total).
Catania, Italy - April 2020 - At the end of the Easter holidays, the Salesian Institute "San Francesco di Sales" was ready to welcome its pupils back online not only at school, but within a #comunitàeducante that also concerns itself with their mental and physical well-being and their families. Alongside the consolidated distance teaching tools, the Salesians have created opportunities for meeting and fostering relationships. From Sunday Mass to live Spiritual Exercises on Facebook, from snacks and online games shared with children and teenagers of all ages, from virtual walls created with #Padlet to expressing their emotions with messages and drawings to the creation of a #webradio to face together this difficult moment without giving up, but keeping our gaze firmly on a new future.

(ANS - Rome) - The Covid-19 pandemic has required the school world to find new resources and new languages to normalize what is an extraordinary situation. What seemed like an emergency situation has, instead, become a daily circumstance that has already lasted six weeks. This is how two excellent Salesian institutes - the "Sant’Ambrogio" in Milan and the "Villa Sora" in Frascati – have reacted to the situation.
(ANS - Rome) - I'm connected, therefore I exist: this could summarize the phenomenon that sees the youth world increasingly immersed in the virtual network. Real life tends to coincide with uninterrupted interaction with the network. In this new world, what is radically lacking, from an educational point of view, is the possibility of assistance in the classical sense of the term: personal media are individual and provide for unsocial and unaccompanied use. It is the young person who decides with whom to be connected and with whom to relate.

RMG - St. Francis de Sales Communicator: All for Love
(ANS – Rome) - The figure of St. Francis de Sales, chosen by Don Bosco as an example of a communicator, teaches that communication is a matter of the heart. In his expression, "Everything in the Church is love: everything lives in love, for love, and of love," we understand his revolution in the way of communicating, and how communication becomes fruitful when it allows communion and the exchange of one's experiences in a path of accompaniment and collaboration in God's project.

WHAT A GIFT TIME IS!
THE MESSAGE OF THE VICAR OF THE RECTOR MAJOR,
Fr Stefano Martoglio, SDBThe beginning of the new year is illuminated in our liturgy by the ancient formula with which the Israelite priests blessed the people: "May the Lord bless you, and keep you. May the Lord show His face to you, and have mercy on you. May the Lord turn His countenance to you, and give you peace."
