(ANS - Rome) - No one could have imagined that a group of young people from the Salesian Vocational Training Center of the CNOS-FAP of the Gerini Institute in Rome would find itself directly involved in the fight against Covid-19. The reopening of Italian companies from May 4 has in fact allowed young people of the fourth year of the Electronic sector to continue their internship in participating companies and, at this particular moment, attention has been paid to finding solutions to stem the world health emergency.
Turin, Italy - November 1938 - The altar dedicated to Mother Mazzarello is located in the Basilica of Maria Ausiliatrice in Turin. On November 20, 1938, the Saint's body was placed in the place where it is still located today. The altar is the work of the architect G. Valotti and the painting is the work of the painter Crida. Under the altar is the bronze urn containing the mortal remains of Mother Mazzarello. "The altar - writes F. Giraudo - is an artistic exhibition of marbles, paintings and decorations in gold and bronze in homage to a great Saint."
(ANS - Turin) - Fr Rafael Montenegro, a Venezuelan, has been the Provincial of the Salesians in his country for several months now. At the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, he was in Italy for the Congregation's 28th General Chapter. He was unable to return to Caracas due to the stoppage of intercontinental flights, but from Italy he was still able to carry out his function of supervision and encouragement of their Salesian activity. "The situation in Venezuela has certainly worsened because Covid-19, which affects the whole world, has found my country in a handicapped state," he says.
(ANS - Rome) - The Pope calls and the Salesian Cooperators respond. During this COVID-19 crisis, the Pope has on several occasions invited not to neglect the poor, who are most affected by this crisis. For this reason, the World Council of Salesian Cooperators has decided to commit the resources foreseen for the "Rosario Maiorano 2020 Project" to address the critical issues that arose following the pandemic.
(ANS - Rome) - Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major, has recently sent a letter to his confreres, the members of the Salesian Family, the laity committed to the Salesian Mission, and the many young animators, educators and catechists with the heart of Don Bosco. The emblematic title of the letter is: "OUR 'SPECIAL' 28th GENERAL CHAPTER. Amid the heartache of the Coronavirus and the EASTER EXPERIENCE."
Bra, Italy - April 2020 - On April 25, on the occasion of Italy's Liberation Day, the bakery/pastry shop/pizzeria of the Salesian Vocational Training Center in Bra created pies and focaccias to be distributed, through the volunteers of the Civil Protection of Bra, to the numerous guests and operators of five city Health Residences (RSA), to the Poor Clares of the Braidese Monastery, to the Red Cross of Bra, to the inter-parochial Caritas, to the Carabinieri on leave and to the Civil Protection itself.

India – INS youth solemnise Don Bosco’s Feast Day with ‘Ka Sur Kynud S-3’ Grand Finale
(ANS – Shillong) – The Youth of St John Paul II, Shillong Province, celebrated the Feast Day of St. John Bosco with the Grand Finale of “Ka Sur Kynud, Season 3.” Organised by Don Bosco Media Network Television, the Social Communication Department of the Province, at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, this two-month-long singing competition, which imitates the global singing competition The Voice, concluded on 31 January 2025, coinciding with the Solemnity of St John Bosco.
