Brazil - Official opening of the celebrations for the Centenary of the arrival of the Salesians in the city of Araxá
Araxá, Brazil - February 2025 - The city of Araxá experienced a historic and emotional moment with the official opening of the celebrations for the Centenary of the arrival of the Salesians. The ceremony was marked by a solemn Mass in the Mother Church of São Domingos de Gusmão, celebrated by Fr Natale Vitali, Superior of the Salesian Province of Brazil-Belo Horizonte (BBH), bringing together faithful, educators, young people and members of the Salesian Family in an atmosphere of profound gratitude and joy. During the celebration there was the installation of the new Rector of the Salesian presence in Araxá: Fr Jonathan Costa. With enthusiasm and missionary spirit, he takes on the mission of further strengthening the Salesian community's journey in the city, following in Don Bosco's footsteps in the education and evangelisation of young people. Throughout the year, many other celebrations will be held for this centenary, with pastoral, cultural and educational initiatives that will recall the rich Salesian journey in Araxá and renew the commitment for the future.
