(ANS – Rome) – After weeks of anticipation throughout the Salesian Family, next Saturday, 30 September 2023, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major of the Salesians, will be solemnly created a cardinal by the Holy Father Pope Francis, as part of an Ordinary Public Consistory that will see the creation of 20 other cardinals including archbishops, bishops, patriarchs and priests.
(ANS – Rome) – That internationality and multiculturalism are distinctive features of the Salesian Congregation today is certainly not new. Indeed, several times the Rector Major has said that these are prophetic traits and destined to grow in the global face of Don Bosco's work. Therefore, the human and religious journey of Fr Jean Marie Karam, another of the missionaries of the 154th Salesian Missionary Expedition is not surprising: Lebanese by birth, with a Salesian formation carried out entirely in Italy, and already a missionary for two years in the Sudan Delegation belonging to the East Africa Province (AFE).
(ANS – Rome) – In the consistory of 14 February 2015, Pope Francis created two more Sons of Don Bosco as cardinals. One of the two was Salesian Charles Maung Bo, who was also the first Burmese cardinal ever created in the history of the Church. Advocate for the poor, ecumenical voice of great depth, Card. Bo is a pastor and a Salesian who has always been committed to peace and harmony in a country that has experienced and still experiences difficult situations of conflict.
(ANS – Rome) – The emotions of the 154th Salesian Missionary Expedition are still fresh in the hearts of those who have received the Missionary Cross from the hands of the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime: like the young Salesian in formation, Shivraj Bhuriya, of Indian origin, destined to work in the heart of Europe, in the "Saints Cyril and Methodius" Province of Slovenia (SLO).
(ANS – Rome) – The first Salesian to be appointed cardinal by the first Argentine pontiff in history, Pope Francis, was an Italian cardinal, but Chilean "by adoption": Riccardo Ezzati Andrello, at the time Metropolitan Archbishop of Santiago de Chile, created cardinal in the consistory of 22 February 2014.
(ANS - Rome) - On the occasion of the Salesian missionary expedition on Sunday, September 24, 2023, in Turin-Valdocco, the Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, announced the theme of the 29th General Chapter (GC29): "Passionate for Jesus Christ, Dedicated to the Young - For a faithful and prophetic lived experience of our Salesian vocation."

RMG - St. Francis de Sales Communicator: All for Love
(ANS – Rome) - The figure of St. Francis de Sales, chosen by Don Bosco as an example of a communicator, teaches that communication is a matter of the heart. In his expression, "Everything in the Church is love: everything lives in love, for love, and of love," we understand his revolution in the way of communicating, and how communication becomes fruitful when it allows communion and the exchange of one's experiences in a path of accompaniment and collaboration in God's project.

WHAT A GIFT TIME IS!
THE MESSAGE OF THE VICAR OF THE RECTOR MAJOR,
Fr Stefano Martoglio, SDBThe beginning of the new year is illuminated in our liturgy by the ancient formula with which the Israelite priests blessed the people: "May the Lord bless you, and keep you. May the Lord show His face to you, and have mercy on you. May the Lord turn His countenance to you, and give you peace."
