(ANS – Rome) – Everything is now ready for the Grand Finale of the 2023 edition of the Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival (DBGYFF), the global Salesian youth film festival. The spotlights will be officially turned on, on Friday 13 October and for 48 hours, in the hundreds of officially registered Salesian Family venues around the world, the fascinating spectacle of youthful creativity expressed through the means of the “seventh art” and used to give shape to the theme “Love builds peace and solidarity” will be staged.
(ANS – Rome) – The missionary reflection for the 11th of the month by the General Councillor for the Missions, Fr Alfred Maravilla, in October, missionary month, focuses on how to fully appreciate what each individual can give, to various extent and in various ways, in order to contribute to the mission, to the building of the Kingdom, and to a personal and community approach to God.
(ANS – Rome) – For Salesian Mission Day (SMD) 2023, dedicated to the theme "Care for creation, our mission", and as the monthly anniversary of Salesian missions approaches, we remember the testimony of two martyrs who gave their lives to defend the earth: Fr Rodolfo Lunkenbein, SDB, and indigenous member Simão Bororo.
(ANS – Rome) – Modern communications media offer the world a rapid exchange of information. News travels at a speed that only a few decades ago would have been impossible even to imagine. However, the speed and technology of news dissemination have also led to many attempts to professionally distort reality. Many news stories contain distorted elements, and the facts often take a back seat. We are talking about so-called "fake news" and "deepfake", which are the focus of the October article written by Fr Maciej Makuła, SDB, member of the Social Communication Sector, author of the series of articles that revolve around the theme of Communication in the Church and in the Salesian Family.
(ANS – Rome) – With exactly seven days to go before the start of the international screenings of the Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival (DBGYFF), expectations are growing throughout the Salesian Family at a global level for what promises to be a great celebration of young people, their talents and their being ambassadors of a message of hope for the world.
(ANS – Rome) – Yesterday, 4 October, on the feast day of St Francis of Assisi, the creation period, an initiative of the Church, came to a close. This period has helped the Church reflect on its relationship with our Common Home – also the theme of Salesian Mission Day 2023. The position paper “The Salesians of Don Bosco on the way to a sustainable world in the light of integral ecology” was published last year, and Emanuela Chiang, from the Youth Ministry Sector, contributed to the SMD with the following reflection.

RMG - St. Francis de Sales Communicator: All for Love
(ANS – Rome) - The figure of St. Francis de Sales, chosen by Don Bosco as an example of a communicator, teaches that communication is a matter of the heart. In his expression, "Everything in the Church is love: everything lives in love, for love, and of love," we understand his revolution in the way of communicating, and how communication becomes fruitful when it allows communion and the exchange of one's experiences in a path of accompaniment and collaboration in God's project.

WHAT A GIFT TIME IS!
THE MESSAGE OF THE VICAR OF THE RECTOR MAJOR,
Fr Stefano Martoglio, SDBThe beginning of the new year is illuminated in our liturgy by the ancient formula with which the Israelite priests blessed the people: "May the Lord bless you, and keep you. May the Lord show His face to you, and have mercy on you. May the Lord turn His countenance to you, and give you peace."
