(ANS - Rome) - The Salesian Missionary Expedition is not only a noble and ancient Salesian tradition, inherited directly from Don Bosco; rather, it is a moment of grace during which many young Salesians take their first steps to dedicate themselves even more generously to young people and to respond to the new needs of the Church and the world. This very important event will be renewed for the 154th time in the history of the Salesian Congregation, this Sunday, 24 September 2023, with the handing over of the Missionary Cross in the Eucharistic celebration presided over in the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians by the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime. A celebration that, because of its significance, will be live streamed on ANSChannel.
(ANS – Rome) – Not only direct encounters with missionary figures, but sometimes also the simple echo of their actions and apostolate can be an inspiration for today's missionaries. This is what the young Salesian in formation, Cl. Soosai Arputharaj, witnesses to us today, while he shares about himself and his life.
(ANS– Rome) – In the first consistory of the third millennium 21 February 2001, Pope John Paul II appointed two other Sons of Don Bosco as cardinals, both Latin Americans: Venezuelan Antonio Ignacio Velasco García and Honduran Óscar Andrés Rodríguez Maradiaga. Today we remember the former of the two: a distinguished scholar, active in the Salesian Congregation as a Provincial and Regional Councillor, then a zealous and dynamic pastor.
(ANS - Rome) – A seemingly chance encounter in the sacristy can change the lives of those involved and of many others. The whole Salesian Family knows this well. But we are not talking about Don Bosco and Bartholomew Garelli: even young Indian Wanteilang Khyllait can say that there is a "before and after" encounter with a Salesian in the sacristy in his life. Because there, as he tells us today, his missionary vocation was born.
(ANS – Rome) – Three years after the ìconsistory in which he had placed three Sons of Don Bosco in the College of Cardinals, in 1988 the future Saint Pope John Paul II also awarded a red hat to Spanish Salesian Antonio María Javierre Ortas, a true scholar and teacher, a great academic and promoter of ecumenical dialogue.
(ANS - Rome) – The witness of the missionaries who have returned to his country, the desire to evangelise and above all to completely fulfil “the dream that Christ has for me” were the motivations that prompted young Vietnamese Salesian Dominic Nguyen Quoc Oat to apply for the missions. Next Sunday he will leave with the 154th Salesian Missionary Expedition, bound for England.

RMG - St. Francis de Sales Communicator: All for Love
(ANS – Rome) - The figure of St. Francis de Sales, chosen by Don Bosco as an example of a communicator, teaches that communication is a matter of the heart. In his expression, "Everything in the Church is love: everything lives in love, for love, and of love," we understand his revolution in the way of communicating, and how communication becomes fruitful when it allows communion and the exchange of one's experiences in a path of accompaniment and collaboration in God's project.

WHAT A GIFT TIME IS!
THE MESSAGE OF THE VICAR OF THE RECTOR MAJOR,
Fr Stefano Martoglio, SDBThe beginning of the new year is illuminated in our liturgy by the ancient formula with which the Israelite priests blessed the people: "May the Lord bless you, and keep you. May the Lord show His face to you, and have mercy on you. May the Lord turn His countenance to you, and give you peace."
