(ANS - Rome) - From 21 to 26 August, Dublin is "the capital of families". Cardinal Kevin Farrell, two years the Prefect of the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life, said that Dublin, Ireland, was chosen by Pope Francis to host the World Meeting of Families with the motto: "The Gospel of the Family: joy for the world."
We know that in the Salesian world, every information shapes and molds our mind, our vision and our values.
(ANS - Rome) - Many elements that are traditionally associated with the figure of Don Bosco, such as the oratory, educational institutes or vocational training schools, were not his inventions. And yet nothing of what Don Bosco took and reinterpreted remained the same after his passage: with what were already known elements, he was able to create universally appreciated models that have remained valid over the centuries – still as current and young as he is.
(ANS - Rome) - When considering the death penalty, an infinite number of ideas, preconceptions and, above all, many questions arise. Does the image of the criminal in his grave really relieve the pain of someone who has lost a loved one, a victim of the worst atrocities? In the name of what may an institution, a man or a woman claim the right to pronounce and impose a death sentence?
(ANS - Rome) - The world celebrates today the "United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples", from which the "World's Indigenous Peoples Day" is derived. Just another date on the calendar? It would seem so. In fact, "Indigenous Peoples" do not matter much; what should concern us are the "indigenous": 5000 groups, according to the United Nations, thousands of people across circa 90 countries, who speak the overwhelming majority of the world's 7000 languages, and whom represent a marvelous diversity.
(ANS – Rome) – With the imminent start of the 7th East Asia-Oceania Salesian Brother Congress in Vietnam (K’Long, Vietnam – August, 9-12), many would ask “Indeed how many are the Salesian Brothers among the 1422 Salesians SDB in this Region (January 1, 2018)?”
