(ANS - Rome) - On September 24-25, at the Salesian Headquarters, in the "Sacro Cuore" center in Rome, a working committee was set up to write a draft of the Salesian Personal Accompaniment Guidelines. The commission saw the participation of members of the Youth Ministry and Formation Dicasteries, and began work starting from the results of research on this issue that the two departments promoted, a survey that in recent months involved over 4,000 Spiritual Sons of Don Bosco, including Salesians in initial formation, novices, prenovices and accompanying staff.

And also Gambia, where the Salesian Congregation have set up a new missionary outpost: these are just some of the destinations that will be reached from the beginning of October by the spiritual Sons of Don Bosco. On Sunday, September 30, in fact, in the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians in Turin, there will be a repeat ancient gesture, now in its 149th edition, yet always current, because the world still needs missionaries: the envoy of the Salesian Missionary Expedition.
(ANS - Rome) - The 73rd session of the General Assembly of the United Nations opens in New York. The Salesians actively participate through an intense activity of advocacy, and are at work in this and other international organizations where it is possible to have the voice of the young heard, bringing to the attention of political decision-makers the needs and expectations of the poorest and most marginalized young. What does doing "advocacy" mean in the Salesian key? But above all, why is this theme imposed today on the reflections of the Congregation and of the Salesian Family? Trying to answer these and other similar questions is the Position Paper entitled "What does advocacy mean according to a Salesian perspective", recently adopted by the Rector Major and by the General Council of the Salesians of Don Bosco.
Rome, Italy - September 2018 – At Salesian Headquarters in Rome, on Thursday 20 September, the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime led a training session for the 24 new missionaries attending the course of preparation for the 149th Salesian Missionary Expedition. The course is guided and animated by Fr Guillermo Basañes, General Councilor for the Missions, Fr Gianni Rolandi and Fr Martin Lasarte.
(ANS – Rome) – World Cleanup Day, a global social action programme aimed at combating the global solid waste problem, was celebrated worldwide on 15 September. The “Don Bosco Green Alliance” actively promoted this event among its members, encouraging Salesian institutions across the world to organize a cleanup activity either in their own campus or in their neighbourhood. Responding to this invitation, several Salesian institutions involved young people in various activities on that day.
(ANS – Rome) – The Frame of Reference of Salesian Youth Ministry (FRSYM) clearly presents the proper tasks and responsibilities of the Youth Ministry Delegate. The Youth Ministry Department offers now a “Handbook of Province Delegates for Youth Ministry” with the intention of clarifying and explaining these tasks, to help the Youth Ministry Delegate in his animation of the province and in order to have common criteria of working at Regional and the Congregational level, these tasks of animation.

RMG – Don Bosco: “The Fascinating Saint”
(ANS - Rome) - Don Bosco is perhaps the most amazing and fascinating saint, history has ever produced. The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

India – INS youth solemnise Don Bosco’s Feast Day with ‘Ka Sur Kynud S-3’ Grand Finale
(ANS – Shillong) – The Youth of St John Paul II, Shillong Province, celebrated the Feast Day of St. John Bosco with the Grand Finale of “Ka Sur Kynud, Season 3.” Organised by Don Bosco Media Network Television, the Social Communication Department of the Province, at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, this two-month-long singing competition, which imitates the global singing competition The Voice, concluded on 31 January 2025, coinciding with the Solemnity of St John Bosco.

United States – CATHOLIC WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: Salesian Missions highlights medical programs for people in need around the globe
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring the Catholic World Day of the Sick. Every year on Feb. 11, the Pope marks the day with a special message calling for spiritual and physical closeness to all those who are ill. Saint John Paul II instituted the day “to encourage the people of God, Catholic health institutions and civil society to be increasingly attentive to the sick and to those who care for them.”
