San Pedro Carchá, Guatemala – February 2025 – On Thursday, February 13, Guatemala’s Minister of Education, Anabella Giracca, along with Technical Deputy Minister Francisco Cabrera, visited the Don Bosco Educational Center in San Pedro Carchá to inaugurate the 2025 acadmic school year. The event was attended by students of the institution and Fr. Antonio de Groot, founder and Director General of the three schools located in Raxruhá, San Pedro Carchá, and San Juan Chamelco, in the Alta Verapaz department. During her speech, Minister Giracca praised the Salesian educational work, describing the center as a true "paradise for young people." She also presented special recognition to Fr. de Groot for his dedication and commitment to the education of young people in the country. The event also included a moment of gratitude and appreciation for teachers, highlighting their valuable work in supporting youth. The celebration concluded with a musical performance by the Don Bosco Center’s band, which lifted the spirits of all those present.
