(ANS - Rome) - On Monday 17 December, on the eve of the 159th anniversary of the founding of the Salesians, the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, during a "goodnight" to the "Saint Joseph" community presented a letter that informed participants of "an important decision that I have taken together with the General Council regarding the definitive placement of the Salesian headquarters, which will be in the Sacro Cuore."
(ANS – Rome) – Every six months, the entire General Council open their arms and change their lifestyle, the result of two weeks spent with the new batch of provincials. This time there were nine new provincials from all five continents - one from Oceania, two from Asia, four from Europe, one from Africa and one from the Middle East. From December 2-14, the new provincials spent their time living, praying, eating and sharing together at Sacro Cuore in Rome with the complete community of the General Council and the St Joseph community.
Rome, Italy - December 2018 - From 14 to 16 December, the World Executive Committee of the Past Pupils of Don Bosco met in Rome, under the guidance of President Michal Hort; its aim to follow up on the latest developments discussed at the presidential meeting held in Medellín and to inform the Rector Major and his Council about the latest news as regards the World Confederation. The most important news is the change of several positions in the Confederation: Eduardo Pessoa, from Brazil, is the new Vice-President, and replaces India's Rajesh Gupta. Fresia Méndez, originally from Costa Rica, is the new GEX Vice-President, and takes over from Spain's Ángel Gudiña, who is the now new Secretary General. The World Confederation is developing new innovative projects: the worldwide database "Boscobase", an NGO to develop projects for young people in need and the start of preparations for the 150th anniversary of the first meeting of the Past Pupils, an event scheduled for June 2020. Furthermore, the executive committee had the opportunity to interact with the Salesian Provincials present at the formation course, and especially with Fr Alejandro León, Provincial of the Middle East, with whom the Confederation is preparing an activity for the forthcoming summer, destined to young refugees living in Europe.
(ANS - Rome) - With the consensus of the General Council, the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, appointed Fr Tadeusz Jarecki as Provincial of the "St Stanislaus Kostka" Province of Poland-Warsaw (PLE) for the six-year period, i.e., 2019-2025.

(ANS - Rome) - With the consensus of the General Council, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major, has decided to confirm Fr Daniel Federspiel as Provincial of the "Saint Francis de Sales" Province of France- South Belgium for the six-year period, i.e., 2019-2025.

RMG – Don Bosco: “The Fascinating Saint”
(ANS - Rome) - Don Bosco is perhaps the most amazing and fascinating saint, history has ever produced. The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

India – INS youth solemnise Don Bosco’s Feast Day with ‘Ka Sur Kynud S-3’ Grand Finale
(ANS – Shillong) – The Youth of St John Paul II, Shillong Province, celebrated the Feast Day of St. John Bosco with the Grand Finale of “Ka Sur Kynud, Season 3.” Organised by Don Bosco Media Network Television, the Social Communication Department of the Province, at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, this two-month-long singing competition, which imitates the global singing competition The Voice, concluded on 31 January 2025, coinciding with the Solemnity of St John Bosco.

United States – CATHOLIC WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: Salesian Missions highlights medical programs for people in need around the globe
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring the Catholic World Day of the Sick. Every year on Feb. 11, the Pope marks the day with a special message calling for spiritual and physical closeness to all those who are ill. Saint John Paul II instituted the day “to encourage the people of God, Catholic health institutions and civil society to be increasingly attentive to the sick and to those who care for them.”
