Palermo, Italy - September 15, 2018 - As part of the pastoral visit to the diocese of Palermo, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the martyrdom of Blessed Pino Puglisi, Pope Francis met the youth in Piazza Politeama on September 15. Among the participants, many young people from the Salesian Youth Movement, who oversaw the animation of the event.
(ANS - Rome) – At the end of a lengthy gestation, the volume "Buona Stoffa", which involved the Salesians of Italy, has finally come to fruition. The book was curated by the National Office of the Salesian Provinces Conference of Italy and the Salesian Center for Youth Ministry.
Palermo, Italy - September 2018 - Preparations are underway in Palermo for the visit that tomorrow, September 15th, the Holy Father Francis will undertake on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the martyrdom of Blessed Pino Puglisi. The Salesian Family of Palermo contributes to the success of the event; for one, the young people of the Salesian Youth Movement in Palermo will take care of the "stage" animation, with dances and themed songs, on September 14th and 15th, both for the Regional Youth Conference and for the Youth Festival with the Holy Father. In addition, the Salesians Cooperators of Don Bosco Ranchibile handcrafted the tablecloths to be set at the tables for the lunch the Pope will share with migrants, prisoners and poor in the mission of Biagio Conte.
(ANS - Rome) - In exactly a week from today, Thursday 20 September, the International Congress "Youth and life choices: educational perspectives" opens at the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS) in Rome. In view of this great event, which aims to be a contribution of the Salesian Family at the next Synod of Bishops on "Youth, Faith and Vocational Discernment", we addressed several questions to the Rector Magnificus of the UPS, Fr Mauro Mantovani.
(ANS - Rome) - In the current social and information context, two elements are essential: being present "in the network" and "networking" between subjects who share the same mission. Animated from this perspective, the Salesians of Italy have produced a guide to the online presence of the Italian Salesian Provinces, which is progressively being shared throughout the peninsula.

The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

Italy – On-Line Course on Integral Ecology 2025: An Initiative of the Alliance for the Care of Our Common Home (Pontifical Universities & Atheneums of Rome)
(ANS – Rome) – 2025 marks the tenth anniversary of Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ landmark encyclical letter on the Care for Our Common Home, in which he invited all people of good to “a new dialogue about how we are shaping the future of our planet” (Laudato Si’, 14). However, as Pope Francis recognizes in Laudate Deum, the apostolic exhortation published on 4th October 2023, “our responses have not been adequate” and “the world in which we live is collapsing and may be nearing the breaking point.” (Laudate Deum, 2).

(ANS – Rome) - The figure of St. Francis de Sales, chosen by Don Bosco as an example of a communicator, teaches that communication is a matter of the heart. In his expression, "Everything in the Church is love: everything lives in love, for love, and of love," we understand his revolution in the way of communicating, and how communication becomes fruitful when it allows communion and the exchange of one's experiences in a path of accompaniment and collaboration in God's project.
