Borgomanero, Italy - March 9, 2022 - The close relationship between the Don Bosco Boarding School and the "Mamre" Association of Borgomanero has become concrete as they have begun to provide formidable help to Ukraine. As events unfolded, the Rector of the Institute, Fr Giuliano Palizzi, SDB, after consulting Mario Metti, head of the Association, involved students, parents, and faculty in collecting basic necessities for the displaced persons. In a commendable show of solidarity, within a couple of days, the School's theater was filled with clothing, sleeping bags, and medicines, with the teachers coordinating the Don Bosco students in sorting the huge amount of material and loading the vans. Last Friday, five vans left Borgomanero for Jarosłav, in Poland, where the material was transferred onto a truck for Lviv. In addition to people in charge of Mamre, the Association "Compagni di Volo" and those in charge of the Ukrainian Community of Borgomanero, some teachers from the "Don Bosco" Economic and Social secondary school also participated in the trip. Part of the collection will benefit some orphanages thanks to the connection with the Salesians of Ukraine and Poland.
