Turin, Italy - April 2022. The hymn of the Strenna 2022 "Il Cuore parla al cuore" (The Heart speaks to the Heart), written and set to music by Fr Maurizio Palazzo, responsible for the musical activities of the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians, is arousing a warm and widespread consensus among the public. Wanted by the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, which refers to the Strenna "Do all through love, nothing through constraint", the song’s video, lyrics, and musical score, with chords and melody, are available.
(ANS – Pessinetto) – On Friday, 9 April 2022, the participants and facilitators at the School of Salesian Spiritual Accompaniment (SSA), currently in progress in Turin, visited the Sanctuary of Sant’Ignazio sopra Lanzo.
Santa Maria degli Angeli, Italy - April 2022 - Yesterday, April 7, the XXVII Provincial Chapter of the Salesian Province of Italy-Southern Italy (IME) concluded, held a stone's throw from the Portiuncula of St. Francis of Assisi, at the Domus Pacis conference center in Santa Maria degli Angeli (Umbria). It was an intense journey of solicitations and reflections that began in December, which saw the Capitulars (consecrated and lay) commit themselves first to review the current state and then to identify the priorities and the lines of action (articulated on three levels) that the Province will have to implement in the next six years. These lines concern the areas of the charismatic identity of the consecrated person, the mission to the south, the involvement of the laity, and openness to the urgent themes of the world. All this work is contained in the Chapter Document that the Assembly approved definitively. The text will then be submitted to the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, and his General Council, before becoming a program of action for the IME province in the immediate six-year period through the Provincial Organic Project (POI) and the local Salesian Pastoral Educational Program (PEPS). The IME Provincial, Fr Angelo Santorsola, stated in the concluding message: "We are called to be builders of hope by presenting the face of Christ to young people who are no longer able to dream. This is our strength, this is our way. We must not be afraid to be proactive, creative, prophetic, passionate about bringing the Gospel through the word of our lives." The Chapter ended with the Eucharistic Celebration in the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli.
(ANS – Turin) – The School of Salesian Spiritual Accompaniment (SSA) began yesterday, 4 April at Valdocco. 20 Salesians are taking part in this English version of the SSA: 2 each from MYM and INK, 1 each from TLS, FIN, FIS, KOR, AOS, AFE, AFW, ZMB, AET, INC, INT, INH, INM and SUO, and 2 from the Regional Formation Centre SAFCAM – Nairobi. The majority of the participants hail from the three Salesian regions of Africa-Madagascar, East Asia-Oceania, and South Asia. The number is restricted to 20 to enable a personalized experience.
(ANS - Venice) - "Faith and human dignity, social rights, and duties" is the theme of the second meeting open to the public of the School of Higher Education for social and political commitment promoted by the Association of Salesian Cooperators and the Italian Federations of Past Pupils (men and women) of Don Bosco in collaboration with the Salesian University Institute of Venice (IUSVE).
Castelnuovo Don Bosco, Italy - March 2022 - On March 26th and 27th, young people from the first to the third grade gathered at Colle Don Bosco to participate in the Savio Club on the theme "Do good to all and evil to none". The participants reflected, with the help of animators and group leaders, on the importance of donating good around the world, without being discouraged by evil, and on the value of good friends, through the example of the Company of the Immaculate, founded by St. Dominic Savio when he was 12 years old, to give some rules to do good to others with the help of Mary. Thanks to the talks and discussions with peers, prayer together, and especially the moments of play, the children focused on the gift of self and with others, making concrete commitments in view of Easter.
