Italy - IME Provincial Chapter: "Called to be builders of hope by presenting the face of Christ to young people who can no longer dream"
Santa Maria degli Angeli, Italy - April 2022 - Yesterday, April 7, the XXVII Provincial Chapter of the Salesian Province of Italy-Southern Italy (IME) concluded, held a stone's throw from the Portiuncula of St. Francis of Assisi, at the Domus Pacis conference center in Santa Maria degli Angeli (Umbria). It was an intense journey of solicitations and reflections that began in December, which saw the Capitulars (consecrated and lay) commit themselves first to review the current state and then to identify the priorities and the lines of action (articulated on three levels) that the Province will have to implement in the next six years. These lines concern the areas of the charismatic identity of the consecrated person, the mission to the south, the involvement of the laity, and openness to the urgent themes of the world. All this work is contained in the Chapter Document that the Assembly approved definitively. The text will then be submitted to the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, and his General Council, before becoming a program of action for the IME province in the immediate six-year period through the Provincial Organic Project (POI) and the local Salesian Pastoral Educational Program (PEPS). The IME Provincial, Fr Angelo Santorsola, stated in the concluding message: "We are called to be builders of hope by presenting the face of Christ to young people who are no longer able to dream. This is our strength, this is our way. We must not be afraid to be proactive, creative, prophetic, passionate about bringing the Gospel through the word of our lives." The Chapter ended with the Eucharistic Celebration in the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli.
