(ANS – Paris) – Another result of Salesian education on the Paris 2024 Paralympic podiums: Ewoud Vromant, a past pupils from the Don Bosco school in Ghent, Belgium, one leg amputated, participated in the Paris Paralympics in cycling competitions and has already won two silver medals, in the C2 men's time trial and in the C2 men's chase. Not to mention that next Saturday, 7 September, the men's C1-3 road race still awaits him.
(ANS – Kunkujang) – On 1 and 2 September 2024 Fr Alfred Maravilla, General Councillor for Salesian Missions, was on a mission animation visit to the Gambia. Accompanied by Fr Jesus-Benoit Badji, Superior of Our Lady of Peace Province of North West Africa (AON), Fr Maravilla met the Salesian community to share the future development plans of the young Salesian presence in the country.
(ANS – Melbourne) – The GEX Vice-President of the World Confederation of Past Pupils of Don Bosco from the Philippines has made a name for himself in his new home. Niel Evangelista, who relocated to Melbourne last year, has recently been appointed as one of twelve My Melbourne International Student Ambassadors.
(ANS – Rome) – For twenty years the Salesian work in El Houssoun, on the Lebanese mountain, has been animated by groups of Salesian Cooperators and young volunteers from the Latin or Maronite rite, who offer humanitarian assistance together with various educational and pastoral activities, throughout the year and in particular in summer, to thousands of young people, both Lebanese residents and Syrian and Iraqi refugees, Christians and Muslims. Over these years they have been accompanied by the Salesians of Don Bosco on their journey of Christian and Salesian formation, from one generation to the next, thus becoming part of the Salesian Family.
(ANS – Kep) – The governor of Kep Province, H.E. Som Piseth, visited Don Bosco Kep on the morning of 29 August 2024 to officially open the special “Five Thousand Trees” program created by the Don Bosco Green Alliance Cambodian Branch in Kep, one of the greenest provinces of Cambodia in the coastal region.
(ANS – Rome) – As is the case every year, the Missions Sector has prepared a map that graphically helps to visualise the destinations of new Salesian missionaries in the world, starting at the end of this month as part of the 155th Salesian Missionary Expedition. This 155th expedition includes 27 Salesians: 5 priests, 2 coadjutors, 1 deacon and 19 students.
