Australia – GEX World Vice President becomes Melbourne’s International Student Ambassador

03 September 2024

(ANS – Melbourne) – The GEX Vice-President of the World Confederation of Past Pupils of Don Bosco from the Philippines has made a name for himself in his new home. Niel Evangelista, who relocated to Melbourne last year, has recently been appointed as one of twelve My Melbourne International Student Ambassadors.

Niel Evangelista expressed his enthusiasm for the role, stating, “My previous experiences in study, work, and volunteering inspired me to apply for this ambassador program. As an ambassador, I want to encourage international students to get involved in the community through volunteering, events, and various activities around the city.”

Beyond planning and implementing programs for international students, the ambassadors also serve as liaisons between the city and its student population. Niel Evangelista is particularly focused on advocating for students pursuing certificate and diploma courses in Melbourne.

“I’m excited to work with this group of talented individuals and future leaders,” Niel Evangelista shared.

Since starting his certificate course in July 2023, Niel Evangelista has had the opportunity to connect with other students from various colleges in Melbourne. He has also gained valuable experience working in aged care and disability support.

Reflecting on his journey, Niel Evangelista concluded, “I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities that have come my way since moving here. As a way of giving back, I’m thrilled to serve the community as a Melbourne International Student Ambassador. The past year has been full of surprises, but it’s also been a challenge to learn and adapt. Thank you to everyone who has supported me. I couldn’t have done it without you. I’m excited to continue this journey together.”
