(ANS – Anisakan) – If you ask me, “what is the best practice of SYM in Myanmar during Covid-19 pandemics and political crisis?”, I would surely say it is “Online Faith Formation for Myanmar youth”. It was firstly organized and originated by Roman Catholic Youth (RCY) during the Covid-19 pandemics, and later joined by the Magis Jesuit youth and the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM).
(ANS - Madrid) – September is always a month full of emotions: after the school holidays and after an intense summer of pastoral activities, a new school or academic year begins. And for the Salesian houses in Spain it gradually resumes the ordinary activity of education and accompaniment of thousands of children, adolescents and young people.
(ANS – Ivato) – The General Councillor for the Missions, Fr Alfred Maravilla, has been on an Animation Visit to the Mary Immaculate Vice-Province in Madagascar (MDG), from 4 to 9 September 2004. During his visit, accompanied by the Provincial Fr Innocent Bizimana, he was able to meet the prenovices, the novices and the Salesians who were in the Provincial House for their first profession. He visited the novices of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians and briefly addressed the young people in the Ivato oratory. In addition, he also visited Radio Don Bosco, whose work of evangelisation he was able to appreciate, and there he concluded his visit with a radio interview.
(ANS – Dili) – On Monday 9 September, Pope Francis arrived in Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste, where he will remain until 11 September. The Pontiff was welcomed to the presidential palace in Dili by the Head of State, one of the architects of independence and 1996 Nobel Peace Prize winner, José Manuel Ramos-Horta. The two, after listening to the hymns and after three children in traditional dress offered the Pope flowers and a scarf in tais, the local fabric, immediately shared a moment of joy and conviviality.
(ANS– Bratislava) – From Friday 6 to Sunday 8 September 2024, the Slovak Salesian Family joyfully celebrated the centenary of the presence of the Salesians in the Country (1924-2024). The celebrations, which were the culmination of the entire festive year – in turn introduced by a three-year preparatory period – were enriched by the presence of the Vicar of the Rector Major, Fr Stefano Martoglio, as well as the Councillor for the Central and Northern Europe Region, Fr Roman Jakimowicz, and by the Provincials of numerous neighbouring and nearby countries.
(ANS – Los Angeles) – Under the leadership of Fr. Mel Trinidad and the Delegate of Mission Animation, six Salesian missionaries from different parts of the world gathered at St. Dominic Savio Church to discuss the experiences and challenges faced by missionaries joining the Salesian province of San Francisco. This meeting was a rich exchange of personal stories, highlighting the need for a more structured, welcoming, and supportive approach for those arriving to serve in the province.
