(ANS – Bonn) – The two Salesian humanitarian organisations, Don Bosco Mission Bonn and Don Bosco Mondo, both based in Bonn, Germany, can look back on 2023 with satisfaction. Together, they have supported almost 500 projects for children and young people around the world, investing a total of over 26 million euro: compared to the previous year, this is one million euro more spent on services to support children.
(ANS – Fatima) – The second day of the 9th International Congress of Mary Help of Christians was marked by intense moments of reflection, sharing and prayer. The participants experienced a rich and varied programme that included conferences, testimonies, cultural visits and moments of deep spirituality.
(ANS – Fatima) – The third day of the International Congress of Mary Help of Christians was marked by moments of intense spirituality, the sharing of impactful testimonies and artistic expressions that moved the participants. A highlight was the recitation of the rosary and the candlelight procession, presided over by Bishop Maksym Ryabukha, Auxiliary Bishop of Donetsk, Ukraine.
(ANS – Fatima) – The 9th International Congress of Mary Help of Christians has come to an end. On the last day of the meeting, the highlights were the message from the Vicar of the Rector Major, Fr Stefano Martoglio, and the closing Eucharist, which celebrated the unity and faith of the Salesian Family.
(ANS – Goma) – On 14 August, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared an international emergency due to the increase in cases of mpox, or monkey smallpox. So far this year, there have been more than 15,000 cases of mpox and more than 500 people have died from this disease in Africa, most of them in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The Salesian missionaries in the country are attentive to this situation, which is in the midst of a humanitarian crisis caused by violence and internally displaced persons.
(ANS – Fujairah) – On 11 August 2024, a significant event took place in Fujairah, marking the first-ever meeting of the Don Bosco Past Pupils in the UAE. The gathering was held at the Don Bosco House, where 15 individuals, hailing from different states of India and representing various Don Bosco schools, came together to reconnect, reflect, and plan for the future.
