(ANS – Potenza) – Bringing a light among so much darkness: this is the meaning of the  "The Heart of Elisa in the Heart of Africa" project which intimately connects the dramatic story of Elisa Claps, the teenager from Potenza killed in September 1993 at just 16 years old by a young man of her acquaintance, Danilo Restivo – and whose corpse was found in the attic of the Church of the Holy Trinity  17 years later, in March 2010 – to that of hundreds of thousands of individuals overwhelmed by the now ongoing conflict in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

(ANS - Makati City) – Under the leadership of its Regional Director, Fr Jose Dindo Vitug SDB, Don Bosco Tech ASEAN organised the International TVET Conference 2024 on “Skills Development In A Transformative World: Resilience, Innovation and Inclusion". The conference was held from 5 to 9 September 2024 at the Don Bosco Technical School in Makati, Philippines.

(ANS – Aparecida) – As part of the Continental Meeting of Salesian Works and Social Services of America (9-13 September 2024), the General Councillor for Youth Ministry, Fr Miguel Angel García Morcuende, held a conference on the reality of youth in the world, entitled: "The universe of young people: a photographic report". A long question-and-answer session followed with the 120 participants in the meeting.

(ANS – Aparecida) – The Continental Meeting of Salesian Works and Social Services of America began on Monday 9 September in Aparecida do Norte, in the State of Aparecida, Brazil. The event is organised by the Salesian Social America Network (RASS) and the Salesian Network of Brazil (RSB), with the central objective of promoting the networking of Salesian works and social services for young people and communities in situations of vulnerability and exclusion in America, addressing youth realities and the charismatic sustainability of processes in response to their needs. Secondly, the event also allows celebration of 25 years of RASS activity.

(ANS – Rome) – The 29th General Chapter (GC29) Pre-Chapter Juridical Commission  (GC29) met in Rom from 1 to 10 September 2024. The Chapter is scheduled in Valdocco, Turin from 16 February to 12 April 2025, based on the theme "Passionate about Jesus Christ, dedicated to young people". Involved in the Commission are the Secretary of the General Council, Fr Guido Garino,; Fr Giorgio Degiorgi (Piedmont and Valle d 'Aosta Special Circumscription – ICP); Fr Kevin Mwandha (Pontifical Salesian University – UPS Vice-Province); Fr Arockiam Stalin Dhanaraj (Chennai Province India – INM); and Fr David Albornoz Pavisic (Province of Chile – CIL). The work was coordinated by the Procurator General of the Salesian Congregation, Fr Pier Fausto Frisoli.
