(ANS – Los Angeles) – In a moving celebration of creativity and resilience, seven young writers from the Boyle Heights community recently presented their first published book at the Salesian Family Youth Center. The event, led by Luis Chacon and JC Montenegro, drew over 50 enthusiastic attendees eager to support and celebrate the achievements of these remarkable young authors.
(ANS – Ankililoaka) – In the rural situation in Ankililoaka, the Salesians have in mind supporting a development program for their most needy students, focused on promoting the knowledge of foreign languages. This way they want to promote the internationalisation of their curricula and expand the possibilities of finding a decent job, ensuring that in the end, the entire community benefits.
(ANS – Rome) – Waiting is growing in the Salesian world for the renewal this year of an ancient rite, always rich in value, started by Don Bosco and never interrupted in the history of the Congregation: the sending of the Salesian Missionary Expedition. The event, which will be repeated for the 155th time, is scheduled for 29 September, and will be presided over by Fr Stefano Martoglio, Vicar of the Rector Major and leader of the Congregation until the election of the next Rector Major in the 29th General Chapter. The celebration will take place in the Basilica of Mary Help of Christians in Turin, starting at 12:30 (UTC+2).
(ANS – Mexico City) – From 11 to 18 September 2024, Fr Stefano Martoglio, Vicar of the Rector Major – at the head of the Congregation from the end of the mandate of Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime as the 10th Successor of Don Bosco and until the election of the new Rector Major in the 29th General Chapter – is in the Salesian Our Lady of Guadalupe Province of Mexico-Mexico (MEM). The purpose of his trip is to make an Animation Visit to his confreres and to support and encourage the members of the local Salesian Family in their activities with young people.
(ANS – Bonn) – 12 September 2024 - Don Bosco Mondo has a new full-time board of directors. After years of voluntary management, the previous board is handing over the organisation's business to new hands. The general meeting approved a corresponding amendment to the articles of association in June of this year, which paved the way for the new structures.
(ANS – Ljubljana) – In Rakovnik, near Ljubljana, there has been a Shrine dedicated to Mary Help of Christians for 100 years, located in the heart of what is now a great Salesian work comprising different buildings on the edge of the hills and the woods, including a boarding school for boys and boys who in Rakovnik as in Želimlje, choose to spend their high school years in a residential and community context where they can experience healthy values and with the possibility of following a path of faith and commitment in the style of Don Bosco.
