(ANS - Goma) - On 30 April, the Salesian "Don Bosco Ngangi" in Goma, at the eastern end of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, welcomed the Regional Councilor for Africa-Madagascar, Fr Américo Chaquisse. The reason for his visit was the inauguration of the new chapel, dedicated to St. Melchiorre, of the Salesian prenovitiate called "Boscolac", located about ten kilometers from Goma.
(ANS - Nairobi) - The International Meeting of the PDOs, the Planning and Development Offices, organizations that in recent years have assumed an ever-increasing role in the implementation of Salesian educational and development initiatives, ended in Nairobi on 27 April. The event offered numerous indications for the future journey.
(ANS - Rome) – "Nourishing oneself on truth and communicating truth means nourishing oneself on life and on communicating life." This is perhaps the best summary of the 7th Salesian Communications Days held at the Salesian Pontifical University of Rome on 27-28 April. The awareness of the pitfalls of fake news and the clear-cut choice for a journalism of peace that is well anchored to the Truth represented the cornerstones that gave life to the seminar's debate and activities.
(ANS - Nairobi) - The Planning and Development Offices (PDOs) as tools to support the Provinces to bridge the gap between young people and Salesians, as structures capable of keeping Don Bosco's name high in the world, and as a vehicle for a new economic ethics in the world. This and much more was discussed on the first day of work of the third International Meeting of PDOs.
(ANS - Nairobi) - To ensure that the Planning and Development Offices (PDOs) in the various Salesian Provinces become increasingly more think-tanks wherein to reflect on how the Salesian Mission can support and foster human development and, especially, young people. This is the primary purpose of the international meeting of PDO leaders and operators currently taking place in Nairobi, Kenya.
(ANS - Rome) - "Do not be afraid of becoming a citizen of the digital environment." This was the invitation by Pope Francis, spoken on the occasion of his first message for the World Communications Day, in 2014, to motivate the Sector for the Missions of the Salesian Congregation to organize a first seminar on "digital marketing", its theme: "Technology at the service of the mission." An appointment, held during the third week of April, which received comments of satisfaction from many participants.
(ANS - Rome) - The appointment with the "Salesian Communication Days" is renewed at the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome on April 27 and 28: a formation meeting based on the Pope's message for the 52nd anniversary World Communications Day: "Truth will make you free (Jn 8:32). Fake news and peace journalism." The seminar will offer participants talks by experts, experiential insights, workshops, moments of meeting and prayer.
(ANS – Budapest) – DBYN’s study session Advocates for Education took place from 8 April until 15 April 2018 in Budapest. 24 participants, 4 trainers and several experts from all over Europe came together to learn and teach about Human Rights based advocacy.
(ANS - Rome) - A seminar began yesterday, Monday 16 April, for the leaders and operators of the Salesian Mission Offices, the Planning and Development Offices, the various foundations and other Salesian organizations involved in activities of communication, fundraising, and development. The seminar's theme is digital marketing: "Technology at the service of the mission."
(ANS - Rome) – Saturday 14 April, the closing day of the seminar on the promotion of the causes of beatification and canonization, was marked by the presence of the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime who, just back from the Middle East, presided at the Eucharist and offered a rereading of the Strenna in light of the testimony of the saints or candidates to holiness of the Salesian Family.
