(ANS - Letojanni) - Sharing the paths and acknowledging the mission of communicating the beauty of Don Bosco's charism, this is the meaning of the Social Communication Seminar of the Salesians in Italy, held in Letojanni (Messina) from 3 to 5 September. A long awaited meeting, attended by 29 social communication operators belonging to the Italian associations of the Salesian world and to the various Provinces of Italy, to the "many energies found in the Salesian world and that represent the work that takes place at the level of communication", underlined Fr Moreno Filipetto, delegate for Social Communication of the Salesians in Italy and the event's coordinator. Among them, the persons in charge of Social Communication of the six Provinces of Italy, a number of priests and many lay people, collaborators and co-directors. "The goal," continues Fr Filipetto, "is to find common ways on which to walk together and create the common mission."
(ANS - Abidjan) – Taking place from 29 August to 3 September was the Salesian Youth Movement Forum (SYM), attended by 387 young people from Benin, Burkina-Faso, Ivory Coast and Togo. The event took place in the Don Bosco Center in Abidjan, and was animated by 44 people including Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Salesians of Don Bosco, Salesian Cooperators and volunteers of Don Bosco.
(ANS - Hua Hin) – Taking place from 1 to 4 September, at the retreat house of Hua Hin, is the meeting of the formators and teaching staff of the Salesian post-novitiate and of the centers of philosophical studies of South Asia and of the East Asia-Oceania regions. Thirty formators are meeting to discuss their experiences, in the light of Article 114 of the Constitution.
(ANS - Ratisbonne) - The first edition of a Formative Experience in the Holy Land for Salesians entitled "Meeting Jesus in His land through His Word" was held from 20 to 29 August 2018 at the Salesian Monastery Ratisbonne, in Jerusalem. The program was organized under the auspices of Fr Ivo Coelho, General Councilor for Formation, planned and executed by Fr Juan José Bartolomé, Marco Rosetti and Shaji Joseph, who created a unique and unusual format of this continuing formation experience.
(ANS - Hyderabad) - Delegates of Youth Ministry and members of the Provincial Development Network held a joint meeting for the first time in the history of the Salesian Provinces Conference in South Asia on August 17 and 18 at the Province Center of Hyderabad.
(ANS - Medellin) - Sport is an increasingly important reality in today's society. It seems that the technologies have decreased their quantity and quality, but there is no child who wants to deprive himself of their time at sports. Undoubtedly, for the Salesians, play and games linked to sport characterize the educational environment wherein it is possible to accompany the development of the young. Don Bosco matured an educational insight and Salesians in the world have provided an answer. From 21 to 25 August, in Medellin – Colombia, the Pedro Justo Berrío Institute and El Sufragio School are the venues for the 13th edition of the "National Salesian Games".
(ANS – Mandaluyong City) – 7 August 2018 marked the official launching of the Don Bosco Educational Centers (DBEC) - Philippines, Inc. The launching was held at the new Roderick Flores Memorial Hall, Don Bosco Technical College, Mandaluyong City. Don Bosco Educational Centers - Philippines, Inc. is now the juridical entity to serve the common needs of the educational endeavors of the Salesians of Don Bosco in the Philippines. The DBEC is now the authorized brand and standard-bearer of all Don Bosco schools and training centers in the Philippines.
(ANS - K'Long) - The Congress of Salesian Brothers of the East Asia-Oceania region closed yesterday, Sunday 12 August, consigning numerous useful indications for the future.
(ANS - K'Long) - The first day of the Salesian Brothers Congress of the East Asia-Oceania region took place in a warm family spirit. Two 90-minute sessions each offered the opportunity to deepen the themes of relationships and to promote sharing among all participants. The words of the General Councilor for Formation, Fr. Ivo Coelho, and the "Salesian Goodnight" of the Economer General, Br Jean Paul Muller, were especially appreciated.
(ANS – K’Long) – The 7th EAO Salesian Brother Congress opened in the Don Bosco Retreat House in K’Long, Vietnam, in a large community of 180 Salesians (155 Brothers and 25 Priests) and 19 prenovices from all 12 EAO provinces. The truly global assembly includes also participants from other 6 SDB regions of Africa, America, Asia and Europe, including 4 members of the General Council. One Salesian Brother reached the venue by bicycle all the way from Vientiane, the capital of Laos, a distance of more than 300 km. The four-day event is being held under the words of Jesus: “And you all are brothers” (Mt 23,8).
