(ANS – Mumbai) – The South Asia General Body meeting of the Bosco Communications (BOSCOM), the Salesian Social Communications department, was organised at the Don Bosco Provincial House, Mumbai, from 27-28 July, 2018. The 12 Delegates who participated at this meeting chaired by the Salesian Provincial of Mumbai, Father Godfrey D'Souza, who is also the Provincial delegate who coordinates BOSCOM on behalf of the SPCSA [Salesian Provincial Council of South Asia], included the province delegates, the webmaster and editor of the Salesian Bulletin.
(ANS - Vatican City) – Yesterday, 31 July, Pope Francis met with about sixty thousand altar boys and girls from different parts of the world, a part of their pilgrimage to Rome, scheduled from 30 July to 3 August. During this time, when the summer temperature rose to about 36°, thousands of children, teens and young people challenged the heat to listen to the Pope, who in his meeting with them in St. Peter's Square proposed the task of holiness to them.
(ANS - Quito) – The Missionary Animation Delegates from all over America are gathered in the Salesian Center for Continuing Formation of America (CSFPA), based in Quito, Ecuador, to analyze and reflect on the theme: "Human mobility and the Salesian mission." The meeting started on July 23rd and continues until August 10th.
(ANS – New York) – On Wednesday, July 18, 2018, the Salesians of Don Bosco co-sponsored an event on the human right to water with the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese, the Sisters of Mercy, Blue Planet Project, the Sisters of the Sacred Heart and Public Services International: “Defining the Value of Water from a Rights-Based Perspective”. The panelists spoke of the ways that water is valued in communities, cultures and faiths around the world.
(ANS - Vatican City) - On Friday 20 July, Rector Major Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, accompanied by Fr Pierluigi Cameroni, Postulator General, met Cardinal Angelo Amato, Prefect of the Roman Dicastery, at the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, as the latter's mandate ends on August 31st.
(ANS – Mumbai) – On 18 and 19 July, a group of citizen journalists from 42 centres in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh participated in a two-day media workshop on “fake news and journalism for peace”. Organized by the Bosco Information Service (BIS) of Mumbai Salesian province, the event marked the 25 years of BOSCOM South Asia.
(ANS - Budslau) - A small Belorussian village, Budslau, has become known all over the world because of the miraculous icon of the Mother of God of Budslau, patron saint of Belarus. Pilgrimages to the Budslau National Shrine are a centuries-old tradition in Belarus, back in vogue after the fall of the communist regime. Every year, thousands of pilgrims reach the village: on foot, by bicycle, by car or by train, especially during the "Budslau Festival"; and among these pilgrims this year there were also 110 participants in the Salesian Youth Pilgrimage of Evangelization (SMEP).
ANS - Port Moresby) - How can we inculturate Salesian charism in the traditions and societies of Melanesia? This was the question around which seven Salesians of the Papua New Guinea-Solomon Islands Vice Province (PGS) met, accompanied by their Provincial, Fr Alfred Maravilla.
(ANS - Nairobi) - A gaze at the present, already rich in fruits, and one to the future, which presents countless opportunities: it was in this spirit that the Delegates for the Salesian Family in the Africa-Madagascar region met from 2 to 4 July at the "Don Bosco Youth Educational Services" (DBYES) center, in Nairobi.
(ANS - Rome) - "Volunteer experiences and sustainability practices, inside and / or outside the Salesian University College". This was the theme on which the representatives of the Salesian University Colleges (CUS) of Italy focussed during their meeting, held at the Salesian Headquarters in Rome, from 26 to 28 June.
