(ANS - Rome) - On the second day of the seminar for the promotion of the causes of beatification and canonization in the Salesian Family (SF), yesterday, 11 April, Salesian Cardinal Angelo Amato, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, illustrated the value and necessity of miracles in the causes of beatification and canonization.
(ANS - Rome) - The second seminar for the promotion of the causes of beatification and canonization in the Salesian Family (SF) opened officially on Tuesday 10 April at the center of the Lassallians in Rome. "The priority of our commitment is to favor paths of holiness in the SF and not only to promote paths of beatification and canonization; and, also, the promotion of a cause makes us more sensitive to making ourselves live a life of holiness," explained Fr Francesco Cereda, Vicar of the Rector Major, in his introduction to the seminar.
(ANS - Krakow) – Last Saturday, 7 April, a conference was held to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Salesian Seminary in Krakow, known as "Łosiówka" - named after the first owner, Count Łoś; its theme: "Fighting for young people; who is the arbiter (referee) of this match?", part of a cycle of talks entitled: "Dialogues on Education."
(ANS - Krakow) – Entering the final stages of preparations is the XXIX edition of the International Salesian Youth Games taking place from April 28 to May 3 in Krakow, Poland.
(ANS - Madrid) - "Misiones Salesianas", the Salesian Mission Office in Madrid, presented yesterday, 4 April, the documentary "Love", directed by Raúl de la Fuente. The film presents the tragic reality of dozens of underage girls, between 9 and 17 years old, living on the streets of Freetown and forced into prostitution to survive. Something that might seem "normal" in a poor country like Sierra Leone has ceased to be such, thanks to the efforts of the Salesians who, in the 19 months of activity in this specific area, have already taken 149 girls off the streets and away from prostitution, thanks to education.
(ANS - Rome) - The second edition of the Seminar to promote the causes of beatification and canonization of the Salesian Family, scheduled until next Saturday, April 14th, at the Generalate of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, begins today, Tuesday 10 April. in Rome.
(ANS - Madrid) - "Misiones Salesianas", the Salesian Mission Office in Madrid, will present a preview of its new documentary entitled "Love", directed by Raúl de la Fuente, in Madrid. It addresses the exploitation of minors forced to prostitute themselves and the work of the Salesians to take them away from the streets, to help them, protect them and offer them an education in order to return them to their families.
(ANS - Soyapango) - "CRESCO" stands for the Regional Center of the Salesian Coadjutor Brothers. It was inaugurated by the Provincials of the Pacific-Caribbean region in March 1994 in San Salvador, El Salvador, to harmonize the specific formation of the Salesian Brother with his professional qualification. Currently located in Guatemala City, in the Theologate of the Central America Province (CAM), this regional center welcomes all the Salesians Brothers of America.
(ANS – New York) – The 62nd Annual Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) was held at UN Headquarters in New York, March 12-23, 2018. It is the chief global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls. During CSW, representatives of UN Member States, civil society organizations and UN entities discuss progress and gaps in the implementation of the agreed upon plan of action on gender equality as well as emerging issues that affect gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
(ANS – Knock) – “Our ministry amongst the young, as a Salesian family, must be accompanied by prayer if we wish it to be fruitful.” With these words, Fr Eunan McDonnell, Salesian Provincial of the Irish Province, invited friends and members of the Salesian Family to join him in a day of prayer for vocations on the 24th of March.
