(ANS - Rome) - The Tenth Successor of Don Bosco, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, with the approval of the General Council at its meeting on 11 July, approved the aggregation of the Contemplative Fraternity of Mary of Nazareth to the Salesian Family of Don Bosco. The Fraternity is recognized as a public association of the faithful, and is now the 31st group of the great charismatic tree founded by St John Bosco who was himself a contemplative.
(ANS – Rome) - Between Sunday and Monday last, thousands of frightened people sought refuge in the Salesian mission at Gumbo, 8 km from the centre of Juba, in South Sudan, because of the resumption of armed clashes. Now the mission is home to a huge number of people: between 5,000 and 8,000 by day, a number that increases at night because many return there to sleep. And they need everything: food, water, basic necessities.
(ANS - Rome) - World Youth Day (WYD) 2016 in Poland will be attended by pilgrims from five continents. The registration procedures for delegations has ended (although the last minute option is still available) and so it is possible to extrapolate approximate figures.
(ANS - Rome) – In an open and frank discussion Fr José Pastor Ramírez shares a profound reflection after eight years at the Salesian Generalate in Rome as World Delegate for the Past Pupils of Don Bosco. Fr Ramírez is a native of the Dominican Republic. He answers a series of questions and states categorically: "The past pupils are the fruit of the Salesian mission and a force that leavens the world". They have just one passport, which is "the education received”.
(ANS - Rome) - The representatives of more than 40 Salesian Institutions of Higher Education (IUS) from 21 countries gathered at the Salesian Generalate in Rome from 4 to 9 July as part of the Seventh General Assembly of IUS.
Rome, Italy - July 2016 - To help the confreres to grow as mystics in the Spirit, the 27th General Chapter asked the Rector Major and his Council to see to the update of the manual "In dialogue with the Lord" and the other prayer materials (cf. No. 67.7). To this end there will be a meeting at the Generalate from 8 to 10 July of a team of 13 Salesians: a representative of each Salesian Region, two leaders, and four members of the Department of Formation, led by the Councillor, Fr Ivo Coelho.

The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

India – INS youth solemnise Don Bosco’s Feast Day with ‘Ka Sur Kynud S-3’ Grand Finale
(ANS – Shillong) – The Youth of St John Paul II, Shillong Province, celebrated the Feast Day of St. John Bosco with the Grand Finale of “Ka Sur Kynud, Season 3.” Organised by Don Bosco Media Network Television, the Social Communication Department of the Province, at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, this two-month-long singing competition, which imitates the global singing competition The Voice, concluded on 31 January 2025, coinciding with the Solemnity of St John Bosco.

United States – CATHOLIC WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: Salesian Missions highlights medical programs for people in need around the globe
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring the Catholic World Day of the Sick. Every year on Feb. 11, the Pope marks the day with a special message calling for spiritual and physical closeness to all those who are ill. Saint John Paul II instituted the day “to encourage the people of God, Catholic health institutions and civil society to be increasingly attentive to the sick and to those who care for them.”
