The Ministry for Young at Risk (YaR) is one of the most impactful and relevant works in the Hyderabad Province. With six centers operating in the province, YaR has made a significant difference in the lives of countless poor young people. The YaRcenters have remained faithful to their mission of care, protection, rescue, and rehabilitation, providing both formal and non-formal education, as well as home placements. The ministry is committed to creating a child-friendly society where all children can enjoy their rights on an equitable basis. YaR's comprehensive approach includes rescue, rehabilitation, community-based action, capacity building, advocacy, and lobbying to ensure the rights of children.
The Education Ministry is one of the most relevant and impactful works in the Hyderabad Province. Over the past years, the province has made a conscious effort to enhance the quality of education in its institutions. This has been achieved through the evaluation and training of teachers, structural modifications to provide better facilities, and the introduction of new initiatives such as CBSE schools.
One of the innovative initiatives of the province is the Lay Mentoring Programme, which brings lay people into the formation process to complement the Salesian formation. This program has been highly successful, providing formees with an "outside-in" perspective on the challenges and choices of the modern world and helping them become better prepared as Salesians, rooted in Christ and ready to serve the needs of their times.
PARA is a centre that coordinates various activities of Justice and Peace in the province. A review and evaluation was taken up after 30 years of its existence. While PARA has done a phenomenal work in fighting for the rights of people, it was felt that PARA had to move towards community development. It has started functioning with this new direction, impacting and transforming the lives of the poor and the marginalized communities. The core activities of PARA consist of five Desks: Bahujan Desk, Gender Desk, Children Desk, Differently Able People’s Collective (DAPC) and Eco-Spirituality.
BIRDY – (BOSCO INSTITUTE OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT FOR YOUTH) from its inception has been offering training program and capacity building programs for the priests, religious and lay faithful in youth ministry. In the past few years, it has been concentrating on offering training programs in different institutions and parishes focusing on youth. Now Salesians have restarted well prepared animation programs for the priests, religious and lay people on youth ministry and catechesis. The intention is to prepare team of persons who are able to animate and accompany youth in different dioceses and congregations. There is a great need to start Research on youth through BIRDY and INH Province is planning to do serious study and research on youth related themes.
