(ANS – Rome) – Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major, with the consent of the General Council, appointed the Polish missionary Fr. Krzysztof Rychcik as new Superior of the Vice-Province of Zambia (ZMB).
Rome, Italy – June 23rd – The community of the Salesians’ General House celebrated the “Thank You Feast” for the Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime. Starting from 1870 in Valdocco, on the occasion of the feast of St. John the Baptist, on June 24th, the past pupils greeted Don Bosco and expressed their gratitude to him. Reviving this tradition, the Salesians of the General House celebrated the Rector Major with a moment of fraternal encounter in which they remembered in a special way the anniversaries of the Salesians of the community: the 75 years of profession of Salesian Brother Renato Celato, the 50 years of profession of Joan Luis Playà, Philippe Frémin and Gael Sullivan and also the 25 years of ordination of Martín Lasarte and Silvio Roggia.

In the afternoon of June 21st, at the “Sacro Cuore” Salesian Institute there was the beginning of the Encounter of the Persons in Charge of Salesian University Colleges in Italy, in the presence of Fr. Fabio Attard, General Councillor for Youth Ministry, of Mr. Mario Olmos, Salesian brother, General Coordinator of Salesian Institutions of Higher Education, and of Dr. Ernesto Diaco, Director of the National Office of CEI for Education, School and University. On June 22nd the encounter continued at the Salesians’ General House, where the 13 participants met Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, Rector Major, Mr. Olmos, Fr. Stefano Martoglio, Councillor for the Mediterranean Region and Fr. On June 23rd, after the Mass that was presided over by Msgr. Enrico dal Covolo, SDB, Rector of the Lateran University, there is the conclusion of the event, with the speeches of Fr. Claudio Belfiore, National Coordinator of Youth Ministry, and Fr. Alessandro Camadini, President of the Association of Colleges and University Residences.
(ANS – Rome) – The Rector Major with the consent of his council has appointed Fr Pedro BAQUERO Junior as the first Superior of the Papua New Guinea – Solomon Islands Vice-province for the period of 6 years (2016-2022).
(ANS – Rome) – Don Bosco Network is launching its new website www.donbosconetwork.org with an integrated PDO online platform. It is meant to be an important communication tool between Don Bosco Network members and Salesian Provincial Development Offices worldwide.
(ANS – Rome) – The newly elected World Council of the Don Bosco Past Pupils held its first annual meeting last week (June 14-19) in the Salesianum, Rome. It aimed to put concrete strategies and steps for the 7 main priorities of their Six Year Plan.

The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

India – INS youth solemnise Don Bosco’s Feast Day with ‘Ka Sur Kynud S-3’ Grand Finale
(ANS – Shillong) – The Youth of St John Paul II, Shillong Province, celebrated the Feast Day of St. John Bosco with the Grand Finale of “Ka Sur Kynud, Season 3.” Organised by Don Bosco Media Network Television, the Social Communication Department of the Province, at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, this two-month-long singing competition, which imitates the global singing competition The Voice, concluded on 31 January 2025, coinciding with the Solemnity of St John Bosco.
