Castelnuovo Don Bosco, Italy - November 2022 - About 700 young people participated in the "Savio Clubs" at Colle Don Bosco between Saturday, November 5, and Sunday, November 6. Two precious days of merriment, games, and reflections, together with the animators, the Salesians and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians who organized the various activities, and the companions of the Salesian houses and oratories. The first and second graders (middle school) reflected on the theme of joy and cheerfulness as one of the ingredients of holiness offered by Don Bosco, while the third graders addressed the theme of relationships in the family with the help of several testimonies. Finally, thanks to the possibility of confessions during the day, the children experienced what it means to live a day of celebration with a free and light heart.
(ANS - Boretto) - Next Sunday, Nov. 13, will mark the first liturgical feast of St. Artemide Zatti. This new saint was a multifaceted figure – a migrant, nurse, pharmacist, hospital administrator, Salesian coadjutor ... - and his testimony is able to speak to everyone. Especially close to Artemide Zatti are, understandably, his fellow citizens of Boretto, who a few days after his canonization remembered him with a rich and varied celebration, and who still feel his presence alive today.
(ANS - Sesto San Giovanni) - A collaboration agreement between the Centro Nazionale Opere Salesiane - Formazione Aggiornamento Professionale (CNOS-FAP) of the Salesians of Lombardy and the Confederation of Italian Manufacturing Industry and Private Enterprise (Confimi) of the Monza and Brianza area was presented last Monday, Nov. 7, at the Opere Sociali "Don Bosco" in Sesto San Giovanni. The agreement provides for concrete and targeted actions by the two entities to foster the training of young people and their job placement.
(ANS - Rome) - The article, "New Texts of the Third and Early Second Millennium at the Università Pontificia Salesiana," was recently published in the prestigious international scientific journal "Archiv für Orientforschung" of the "Institut für Orientalistik" of the University of Vienna. This study describes part of the collection of neo-sumerical tablets and seals that are housed in the Don Bosco Library of the Roman university for the first time.
Assisi, Italy - November 2022 - After a two-year suspension due to the pandemic, the Salesian Pontifical University in Rome and the Sector for Missions of the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA) have organized the 24th Permanent Formation Course in Missionary Pastoral Care, which opened on Oct. 4 and will end next Dec. 9. Twenty-six members of the Salesian Family (8 SDB, 15 FMA, 2 Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians - MSMHC - and one lay person), who come from various missionary experiences or are preparing to live them, are participating in this course. After an intense month of teachings given by distinguished lecturers, the 26 course participants had a special spiritual experience: a three-day retreat in Assisi. They visited the places of St. Francis and St. Clare and were invited to make an inner journey in three stages: making memory (rediscovering the roots of one's vocation); unlearning in order to learn (purifying oneself from self-referential tendencies in order to welcome God's dream about each one); and revisiting the source (allowing the Lord to lead beyond oneself in order to rediscover missionary momentum). After these three days, the 26 participants returned to Rome to resume formation, with great gratitude to the Lord and a renewed sense of responsibility.
