(ANS - Turin) - The twelfth meeting of Salesian Euro-project planners was held this year in Turin-Valdocco on Nov. 16-19, 2022, with work taking place on the two central days. Promoted by the Youth Ministry Sector, with 116 participants, the program included training on the Erasmus call for proposals, exchange of good practices, meeting of European Salesian schools to collaborate on the same project idea, presentation of "DB Tech Europe," institutional partners and companies. The coordinator of the work was Ivan Toscano, reference person for the "DB Tech Europe" of the Youth Ministry Sector.
Turin, Italy - November 2022 - On November 12 and 13, in Valdocco, young people, Salesians, and Daughters of Mary Help of Christians met for a discussion regarding the different activities of Missionary Animation on the Italian territory. The participants are part of the provincial teams of Missionary Animation. Twenty-four hours of discussion, testimonies, and working groups to get to know each other, dialogue, and to draw up and plan a shared path. Opening the work table was the testimony of Br. Cosimo Cossu, SDB, a missionary in Ecuador for 20 years, and Michela Vallarino, president of the Salesian NGO Volontariato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo (VIS). Wisdom, patience, and hope were the three words that accompanied this meeting, during which they also reflected on how to: be able to read the current times and understand the desire of young people; know how to wait for the fruits of something sown recently; have faith and realize that one must be like mirrors that reflect God's Love for young people.
(ANS - Rome) - From tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 18, until Sunday, Nov. 20, the long-awaited conference "St. Francis de Sales: Posterity, Spirituality and Pedagogy" shall be held at the Pontifical Salesian University (UPS) in Rome as a tribute and an opportunity for reflection on the patron saint of the Salesian Congregation for the 400th anniversary of his death.
Sesto San Giovanni, Italy - November 2022 - The Salesians of Sesto San Giovanni, together with the firm "Haier Europe," inaugurated last Nov. 15 the "Greenhouse" laboratory, where through theory and practical classes, activities will be carried out to train new technicians and specialists of customer services, to foster the acquisition of professional knowledge and skills. Students will be able to participate in training courses on the products of the three brands of "Haier Europe" - Candy, Hoover, Haier - and, at the end of the course, find employment as Field Service Engineers. The project aims to support the area’s employment network through the creation of new job opportunities for the younger generation in a sector where the demand for specialized profiles is growing rapidly. "Greenhouse" is launched as a pilot project in the Sesto San Giovanni School, to then be introduced nationwide in the other Salesian Institutes starting from the 2023-2024 school year. The inaugural event was also attended by regional and local authorities, including Stefano Bolognini - Councilor for Youth Metropolitan City Development and Communication of the Lombardy Region; Giovanni Giacomo Ghilardi, Mayor of the Municipality of Cinisello Balsamo; Alessandra Aiosa, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Sesto San Giovanni; and Roberta Pizzochera, Councilor for Youth Policies and Active Labor Policies, among other delegations, of the Municipality of Sesto San Giovanni. Also present were the National and Sesto San Giovanni Cnos-Fap Directors - Fabrizio Tosti and Francesco Cristinelli; School Rector Fr. Elio Cesari; and Nicola De Guida, Chief Operating Officer of Haier Europe.
(ANS – Rome) – On 13 November 2022, the liturgical memorial of St. Artemide Zatti, a Salesian Brother, was celebrated. He was canonized on 9 October 2022 at Rome in St. Peter’s Square. For the occasion, Fr. Pierluigi Cameroni, Postulator General for the Causes of the Salesians of Don Bosco, shared the testimonies of the Saint’s collaboration with the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in the mission of the San Josè hospital in Viedma, Argentina:
(ANS - Turin) - From Sunday, November 6, to Saturday, November 12, the Provincial Councils of the Central and Northern Europe Region, together with the Regional Councilor, Fr. Roman Jachimowicz, took part in the Spiritual Exercises preached by Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, the Rector Major and 10th Successor of Don Bosco. It was a time for many reflections, presented by the Rector Major around the theme of consecrated Salesian identity in light of the 28th General Chapter.

RMG – Don Bosco: “The Fascinating Saint”
(ANS - Rome) - Don Bosco is perhaps the most amazing and fascinating saint, history has ever produced. The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

Spain – 33rd Edition of the Edebé Prize for Children's and Young Adult Literature: Here Are the Winners
(ANS – Madrid) – The 33rd edition of the Edebé Prize for Children's and Young Adult Literature has been awarded to Beatriz Giménez de Ory (Madrid, 1972) for her novel Tres niños tristes y medio unicornio (Three Sad Children and Half a Unicorn) and David Lozano (Zaragoza, 1974) for his novel La cacería (The Hunt).

United States – CATHOLIC WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: Salesian Missions highlights medical programs for people in need around the globe
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring the Catholic World Day of the Sick. Every year on Feb. 11, the Pope marks the day with a special message calling for spiritual and physical closeness to all those who are ill. Saint John Paul II instituted the day “to encourage the people of God, Catholic health institutions and civil society to be increasingly attentive to the sick and to those who care for them.”
