Salerno, Italy – June 2023 – Fr Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy, Councillor for the Mediterranean Region, presided over the installation ceremony of Fr Gianpaolo Roma as Superior of the Salesian Province of Southern Italy (IME), including Albania and Kosovo, for the period from 2023-2029. It took place on 18 June in the Salesian Church in Salerno. During the event, which was attended by a large representation from the Salesian Family in southern Italy, much gratitude was expressed to Fr Angelo Santorsola, who ended his term as Superior of the IME Province.
(ANS – Cagliari) – From September 2023 the Salesians in the Metropolitan City of Cagliari will take on a new appearance: a single religious community at the service of the young people in the area, with the task of animating the three Salesian houses, that is, the three educative and pastoral communities that look after three different and complementary situations at the service of young people: Don Bosco house, at the service of children, young people and older youth, with school and a focus on the world of culture and formation; the St Paul house with its oratory/youth centre and parish, which see to evangelisation and youth associations; and the St Dominic Savio house at Selargius, with its Vocational Training Centre (VET) and focus on the world of work.
(ANS – Turin) – The Superiors of 10 Salesian Provinces and Vice-Provinces from 6 regions (Africa-Madagascar, East Asia-Oceania, America South Cone, South Asia, Central and North Europe and Interamerica) are currently in Valdocco, Turin, at the Mother House of the Salesian Congregation, to participate in the formation course for newly appointed Provincials.
(ANS – Turin) – After the Retreat held at the Monte Calvario Rosminian house in Domodossola, the General Council’s summer plenary session is officially underway. The opening of the session with a marked time of recollection and spirituality, as explained by the Vicar of the Rector Major, Fr Stefano Martoglio, served to prepare for the intense days of service in the worldwide animation and governance of the Congregation to which the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, and his Council are now called.
(ANS – Chiari) – The Salesian community and the Auxilium reception centre organised a "Three Days with Fr Galli": three days of prayer, adoration and musical elevations for of the eleventh anniversary of the death of the Servant of God Fr Silvio Galli (+12 June 2012). It took place in the church of San Bernardino in Chiari.
Rome, Italy – June 2023 - The annual Feast of the Lazio Past Pupils Federation was held at the Santa Maria della Speranza Parish in Rome on 11 June. The Union is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its foundation. At the centre of the day the "Young people and Salesians today" conference, moderated by the President, Cesare Sagrestani, and which saw interventions by Fr Gian Luigi Pussino, SDB, Delegate for the Salesian Family in the Central Italian Circumscription (ICC), Fr Marcello Scarpa, lecturer at the UPS, and Sister Emilia Di Massimo, Delegate for Past Pupils of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA), who explored the situation of young people in an era of social media, providing some food for thought for renewed involvement of young people in the activities promoted by Salesian works.

RMG – Don Bosco: “The Fascinating Saint”
(ANS - Rome) - Don Bosco is perhaps the most amazing and fascinating saint, history has ever produced. The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

India – INS youth solemnise Don Bosco’s Feast Day with ‘Ka Sur Kynud S-3’ Grand Finale
(ANS – Shillong) – The Youth of St John Paul II, Shillong Province, celebrated the Feast Day of St. John Bosco with the Grand Finale of “Ka Sur Kynud, Season 3.” Organised by Don Bosco Media Network Television, the Social Communication Department of the Province, at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, this two-month-long singing competition, which imitates the global singing competition The Voice, concluded on 31 January 2025, coinciding with the Solemnity of St John Bosco.

United States – CATHOLIC WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: Salesian Missions highlights medical programs for people in need around the globe
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring the Catholic World Day of the Sick. Every year on Feb. 11, the Pope marks the day with a special message calling for spiritual and physical closeness to all those who are ill. Saint John Paul II instituted the day “to encourage the people of God, Catholic health institutions and civil society to be increasingly attentive to the sick and to those who care for them.”
