The meeting, scheduled from 12 to 23 June, addresses many specific aspects of the Provincial’s service of animation and governance, but has added value in the opportunity for a confidential and direct conversation that each Provincial has with the Rector Major and from time to time with the various members of the General Council – to receive pointers from them regarding the direction to be followed together and, in exchange, for the newly appointed superiors to pass on information regarding the day-to-day circumstances in which the Salesian mission is carried out on the ground.
Coordinated by the Vicar of the Rector Major, Fr Stefano Martoglio, and organised by his Secretary, Fr Saimy Ezhanikatt, the course involves
- Fr Juan Pablo Alcas Michilot, Provincial of Peru (PER);
- Fr Anthony Boonlert, Provincial of Thailand (THA);
- Fr Ademir Ricard Cwendrych, Provincial of Brazil-Porto Alegre (BPA);
- Fr Marcelo Farfán, Provincial of Ecuador (ECU).
- Fr Don Bosco Lourdusamy, Provincial of India-Chennai (INM);
- Fr Michael Kazembe Mbandama, Superior of the Zambia-Malawi-Zimbabwe-Namibia (ZMB) Vice-Province;
- Fr Julio Andrés Navarro Mora, Provincial of Central America (CAM);
- Fr Anacleto Pires Guiterres, Superior of the Timor Leste Vice-Province (TLS);
- Fr Bartłomiej Polański, Provincial of Poland-Wrocław (PLO);
- Fr Clive Telles, Provincial of India-Panjim (INP).
The packed program of activities will allow the Provincials to gain direct knowledge of the guidelines for the six-year period, together with criteria and legal factors relating to the animation and governance of the Province, the spirituality of the Provincial and the identity and discipline of religious life.
In the various sessions, moreover, thanks to presentations by the various Councillors – General and Regional – the Provincials will have the opportunity to get to know each of the Congregation’s animation Sectors, as well as the situation in the various Salesian regions; and they will also be informed about the activities of the Secretariat for the Salesian Family and the General Postulation for the Cause of Saints of the Salesian Family.
Guided by Fr Mike Pace, SDB, the Provincials will also have time to visit the Casa Don Bosco Museum and the most significant places of Salesian history housed in the citadel of Valdocco.
On Saturday the 24th, at the end of the course, everyone will participate in the “Festival of Gratitude” around the Rector Major.
