(ANS– Alassio) – 21 Salesians (18 priests and 3 brothers) and a priest from the Confederation of the Oratory of St Philip Neri met for the third edition of the seminar on the centrality of the Eucharist in the Salesian charism from 23 to 26 July 2023 at the Salesian work in Alassio, in the Province of Savona, It was based on the writings and testimony of the Servant of God Vera Grita, Salesian Cooperator, whose centenary of birth is celebrated this year (Rome 28 January 1923). The meeting, coordinated by Fr Pierluigi Cameroni, Postulator General for the Causes of Saints of the Salesian Family, concluded the online initiative to explore the 28th General Chapter of the Congregation "on the urgent need to make the ‘Da mihi animas, cetera tolle’ a reality in the proclamation of the Gospel", organised by the "Work of Living Tabernacles" Study Centre and the Conference of Salesian Provinces of Italy (CISI) Formation sector.
Ragusa, Italy – July 2023 - On the final evening of 22 July, the 2023 edition of the Grest (Summer Group) of the Salesians, Ragusa ended with the participation of about 1,000 people including young people, leaders, educators and families in an evening of joy and fraternity. "Life as a King" was the motto of Grest 2023, inspired by the famous cartoon "The Lion King", and which took place from 15 June to 22 July. The Grest, coordinated by Salesians Fr Enrico Frusteri Chiacchiera, director of the Oratory, and Fr Orazio Moschetti, a young Salesian student of theology in Messina, involved 60 young animators aged 15 and over who lifted spirits for 140 children at the "minigrest", in the morning, and 350 older youth at the "Grest", in the afternoon.The four Grest teams were engaged in challenges and games, but also in workshops and formation activities, sports and lots of fun. The summer activities proposed by the Salesian oratory at Ragusa also concerned families, so the children could experience moments of leisure and happiness with their parents. Several trips took place during the summer activities. On 19 July the "Capaci di Raccontare" event was held in memory of Judge Paolo Borsellino and his escort, killed by the Mafia on that day in 1992. The event, which was also attended by the Mayor of Ragusa, Peppe Cassì, was a moment to say no to the Mafia and yes to life, but also to remember the importance of abiding by the law. The Grest in Ragusa was conceived almost half a century ago by Fr Franco Solarino, SDB.
Milan, Italy – July 2023 - On the morning of Saturday 22 July, at the Minor Basilica of St Augustine in Milan, the new Superior of the Salesian Province of Lombardy-Emilia (ILE), Fr Roberto Dal Molin, took office. The installation ceremony, together with the celebration of Mass, was led by Fr Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy, Councillor for the Mediterranean Region. Also present was Father Giuliano Giacomazzi, former ILE Provincial, who was appointed to the office of the Centro Nazionale Opere Salesiane – Formazione e Aggiornamento Professionale (National Salesian Works Centre - Training and Professional Updating)(CNOS-FAP), based in Rome. The ceremony was attended by numerous representatives of the Salesian Communities from ILE, who came to thank Fr Giacomazzi and welcome Fr Dal Molin, together with various Provincials, Salesians and collaborators who had come from the other Italian Provinces. On behalf of the Salesian Family, the Provincial of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of the Lombardy Province (ILO), Sr Stefania Saccuman, with many Sisters, as well as groups of Salesian Cooperators, Past Pupils, missionary groups and also young people from the houses, took part. A special mention, emphasised in the thanks by Fr Giuliano Giacomazzi, was reserved for the leaders of the Salesian Works in Varese and Castel de' Britti entrusted to management by the laity.
(ANS – Rome) – The third edition of the Crossinmedia Award was held on the morning of Thursday, 20 July 2023, at the Senate of the Republic – Chapter House (Cloister of the Convent of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva), a prestigious recognition given to those who have distinguished themselves in their professional activity and who have contributed to the realisation of the Videocatechism of the Catholic Church. Among the winners is Salesian Fr Giuseppe Costa, Co-spokesman of the Salesian Congregation.

This is the human profile of the La Stella del Cammino (Star of the Way) family home at Santa Severa, a small municipality on the Lazio coast, and belonging to the network of "Salesians for Social APS".
(ANS – Sesto San Giovanni) – The funds raised by Sesto San Giovanni's Don Bosco Social Works educative and pastoral community have been transformed into several concrete projects. For a number of months, students, families, teachers and Salesians at the Lombard educational centre have collected donations worth 38 thousand euro, which will become tangible aid for social programs supported by the different sectors of the school. Several humanitarian projects will be supported from just one school, on behalf of many children in 4 different countries on three continents.

The humble work which he began for the welfare of his poor and abandoned boys in Italy has produced astonishing results, and today there are nearly 14000 Salesians working in 138 countries, and there are more than 200,000 members belonging to the 32 groups of the worldwide Salesian Family sharing the charism of Don Bosco and reaching out to the needy young people.

India – INS youth solemnise Don Bosco’s Feast Day with ‘Ka Sur Kynud S-3’ Grand Finale
(ANS – Shillong) – The Youth of St John Paul II, Shillong Province, celebrated the Feast Day of St. John Bosco with the Grand Finale of “Ka Sur Kynud, Season 3.” Organised by Don Bosco Media Network Television, the Social Communication Department of the Province, at Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, Shillong, this two-month-long singing competition, which imitates the global singing competition The Voice, concluded on 31 January 2025, coinciding with the Solemnity of St John Bosco.

United States – CATHOLIC WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: Salesian Missions highlights medical programs for people in need around the globe
(ANS – New Rochelle) – Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco, joins Catholic organizations around the globe in honoring the Catholic World Day of the Sick. Every year on Feb. 11, the Pope marks the day with a special message calling for spiritual and physical closeness to all those who are ill. Saint John Paul II instituted the day “to encourage the people of God, Catholic health institutions and civil society to be increasingly attentive to the sick and to those who care for them.”
